Happy First Day, Ags!
Who amongst us can’t appreciate this wisdom shared with the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ‘23 this morning on the Twitter machine?
Mercy, how I miss those days.
In the immortal words of Linda Richman, I’m getting a little verklempt.
Enjoy every scintilla of it.

frick that. You have your whole life to work. Enjoy college. Study and work hard, but frick off and make memories too. School isn’t a grind like work. Don’t make it one if you don’t have to.

If you’re an engineering major that’s a pretty good strategy, though I didn’t know many engineering majors who worked that hard TBH.
Anybody who needs to do school 8-5 M-F in just about any other major in order to get by probably had no business getting into A&M anyway though. Even if you are taking 18+ credit hours that’s around 4 hours of outside study time alone every single day minimum. Most people didn’t even study that hard in med school.
I have no problem with someone doing it if it floats their boat, but it seems wildly unnecessary. I was a double science major, am of average intelligence by major university standards and probably never spent more than 10 hours studying outside of class in any given week apart from the week or two leading up to finals.

I always was told that for every hour of class you had, you needed to spend an hour per week outside of it. I.e. 15 hour semester meant you should spend 15 hours per week studying and all that jazz, but I bet I rarely spent more than 2-4 hours a week studying outside of the class unless I had a big project, midterm/final, or report due.
Main thing I do agree with is paying attention during class and taking notes. Learn it there and you won’t have to teach it to yourself at the library down the road and save yourself some time. Easier said than done these days with everybody having a smartphone that they live on....

I was a bit of a penny pincher in grad school so I only went a few times but God I would kill for some J Cody's right now.
