Frank just isn’t the guy for this job. Another game where he is getting outcoached.

Kotsar is too soft, 107.5 wants to act like he is a good player, but he is weak in several areas.

Jeez we are terrible at Ft’s

Agreed
Well Sampson is just a superior coach. One of the best in the country IMO

Can’t remember the exact stat, but against Umass they said this is one of the worst we’ve ever shot from FT line in our program’s existence

So if Frank continues to get outcoached why do fans here still consider frank to be elite and say “we can’t do better”

People get on Champ for his not so good years, and underwhelming performances. They say things like this is year 4, his guys.etc etc

But it’s year 8 for Frank and aside from one fluke run (that team ended the year 6-6, we deserved to make the tourney, but we weren’t a top 4 team) we have been below average. Seems to me the seat should be getting pretty warm, but I personally continue to hear “who would we get that’s better?” My answer, for our program, several coaches.

No we need a new coach

I think people say that because we kinda lucked into him
Especially someone who was already established

I looked it up. He has 1 NCAA and 1 NIT tourney appearance in 8 years. That actually isn’t better than several coaches.

Odom, Felton, Fogler all have atleast 1 NCAA and 1 NIT trip in less years. Fogler and Odom have more.

My point, which you agree with, is Martin isn’t above SC basketball. We shouldn’t be honored he is here and allow him to be our coach forever just because he is Frank Martin.

As I’ve said, at first the fanbase acted like that because we lucked into him.
In 5 years at Kansas State he had 4 NCAAT appearances and one NIT.
He made the elite 8 (his best with K State) and was a consistent to 3-4 team in the big 12 (IMO at the time a better basketball conference)
But NOW that shouldn’t matter. He’s sucked here outside of getting lucky in a win and advance tournament

I think a big part of it (recruiting aside) is the officiating has caught up to Martins style of play. His guys consistently get in foul trouble and have to play a near perfect game on defense to execute his style.

Offensively, his offense is outdated, and doesn’t recruit a big man that can bully down low. We pay for it with post scoring, and also offensive rebounding. Kotsar ain’t it.

Losing by 20, at home, is not....um...good. I can't believe I was actually excited for basketball a few weeks ago.

The hell was up with them rushing Carolina off the floor at the end? No handshakes, nothing.

Bolden and Tevin Mack got into it, so the coaches shook hands and the players went to the locker rooms.

The turnovers are sloppy. The fouls are signature Frank Martin basketball: play physical, over-reaching defense and ugly down the game. It's intended to bring opponents down to our level, except we practicing doing it, so we should know what we're doing, while other teams lose their focus and get frustrated (see Duke, and really, most every team we played in the NCAAT in 2016-17).

We'll commit a ton of fouls as a result, but the idea is, the other team will also commit a ton of fouls, which disrupts their game-plan and rhythm.

Right now however, we aren't playing defense quite the way Martin wants us to, so we're committing more fouls on average than our opponents are, and far more shooting fouls, so they are taking more FT attempts than we are, and we're not a great FT shooting team this season yet anyways, so we haven't quite taken advantage of that yet.

Hopefully the team comes together and starts gaining confidence in what Coach Martin and the staff wants from them, defensively. Also the TOs hurt us as well, because it counters what our defense tries to do, by giving opponents more chances and putting us on our heels instead of putting them on theirs'....

But as long as we have Coach Martin, our team will play "ugly", physical, fouling basketball. Frank has a method within that madness, apparently.....

I don’t know if this is the intent considering he pulls guys as soon as they commit penalties.

We ended both the streaks in baseball and basketball this year; that's a start. It really was an ugly game, but glad we won. Martin needed that one for sure.
