The Alabama coaching staff selected eight players of the week following the Crimson Tide's 17-3 win at USF last Saturday. Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams on offense; Chris Braswell, Deontae Lawson, Malachi Moore and Dallas Turner on defense; and James Burnip and Will Reichard on special teams were all selected for their efforts against the Bulls.

Why can’t we pressure a quarterback consistently? Rice sacked Ewers 3 times. The only memorable game Steele called

I didn't watch the Rice game, but my guess is Texas didn't utilize the same quick passing strategy against Rice that they did against Alabama. Their focus even then was likely on Alabama. Except for a couple of deep shots, their passes came out so quickly against Alabama that our edge rushers didn't have time to get to the QB. Wasn't Kevin Steele coaching at Miami when we hired him? He never seems to have lacked for a job. I do recall him being more of a bend but don't break type of defensive coach than one to rely on pressure. Maybe I'm not recalling correctly.

Yes, after 1 year. He has had 8 jobs in 17 years with the longest tenure the 4 years at Auburn. Discounting that, less than 2 years per job.

That’s what I meant by not keeping up with current offenses. The bend but don’t break works when you have to face a good/serviceable but not explosive offenseThe new clock rules will help him in this regard. If he had to face the offenses built for 90-100 plays a game, it doesn’t work because the starters usually get tired and end up breaking more than bending late.

Are we sure CNS isn’t hamstringing what Rees is trying to do?

If he is it’s #45 on the list of problems with this team.

I for one, not throwing in the towel. I’ve got too much Bama in me and I’ve been with them since the ‘69 season. I’ve seen a lot of games. In person and on TV. Seen more Championships than most will in their lifetime, from 3 different Head Coaches. I’m going to support them, hopefully we turn this thing around. I do think Nick is going to make some changes in the Oline this week. Don’t be surprised. I appreciate what everyone brings to this board, I don’t post much, but I will Roll with the Tide, through thick and thin. Roll Tide always!

LINK

Practice footage distributed Monday by Alabama shows Jaheim Oatis (foot) participating, and Kadyn Proctor-Terrence Ferguson-Seth McLaughlin still at LT-LG-C.

My experience with Bama football is much the same as yours……good times and some “lean” times. Attended my first game in 1961 and have been hooked ever since. “Roll Tide!!!!!!!!!

Proctor struggles badly with speed so unless we plan to keep a TE on the left to chip? I don't know why we're keeping him out there

I think the downvotes are for there not being any changes in the o-line. Not for you.

Proctors struggle last game was that he consistently moved forward to engage the rusher when the rusher was speed rushing to the outside. This put him out of position. He didn't seem to do this the previous two games. The rumors that he was tipping of Texas (if true) could have caused him to do something different. Had he not been so aggressive, he probably would not have had an issue with the rushers.
