Like Oklahoma Oklahoma state Texas tech. Oklahoma has owned the big 12 running this and Oklahoma state went from nothing to a perennial powerhouse with this and Texas tech has went from smu levels to a respectable program as well as Washington state coming from nothing to a contender under leach. It’s the best thing to do with sub par athletes!

You realize we don't play Big 12 defenses correct?

Sub par athletes don't win in the SEC. You need a combo of really good, developmental projects who turn out better than rated and most importantly value speed then size over everything else.

Save this thread for the next coaching search. We can argue about it for 20 pages

Is there really that much difference between SEC and Big 12 defenses these days? Clemson hung 44 on Bama.

I think the days of stingy defenses are over. Rules ensure that offenses have all of the advantages. Casual fans need non stop scoring to stay engaged so the rest of us are going to be subjected to glorified 7 on 7 matchups.

IMHO

This was the worst bama defense in years... we hung 30 something on them, and at times moved the ball effortlessly. They only had 3 D linemen they played. No depth.

Yes there are way better defenses here than there.

Top to bottom? Without question. Not as big of a difference if you are looking at the top teams though.

Eh I mean us, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Missouri and Vandy all had pretty mediocre to bad defenses last year. Oklahoma lit up Georgia a few years ago too they just can’t stop anyone. We won’t be able to get the athletes OU gets though.

Sure but just looking at teams in the Big 12 that finished below us in yards allowed.

Baylor
Kansas
Oklahoma St
Oklahoma
Texas Tech

That is half their league

Five SEC schools finished ahead of the first Big 12 team, TCU at 26th.

Now alot of that has to do with the offenses in the Big 12 but I still think you can say there is a difference between the Big 12 defenses and SEC defenses, at the very least from a talent perspective.

Oklahoma was the best team in the b12. They had a worse defense than us.

I already posted that

When I say top teams, I'm not referring to the best overall team. I was referring to the best defensive teams.

That being said, I overstated that, they are bad on both levels when viewing the numbers.

Exactly. Take a look at Oklahoma's defense statistically.
