I have full confidence that Willy Taggart will turn this program around and win a natty within 5 years.

It is bleacher, but here are some highlights...

quote:

But want to know who's really to blame for this mess in Tallahassee? Look no further than former coach Jimbo Fisher.

quote:

Many of the issues Taggart inherited, they say, began with the coddling of Jameis Winston, the player who led the Noles to such remarkable heights under Fisher.

Those issues eventually bled into a hands-off attitude with academics and placed the program at risk of not complying with NCAA standards and being ineligible to participate in championship events.

quote:

Academics under Fisher, one former FSU assistant coach says, were a direct result of a lack of discipline and direction on the team. Those issues soiled the locker room and fed entitlement—and it played out on the field.

That entitlement grew so significantly over the final three seasons under Fisher, it engulfed everything in its path.

Again, consider the source here.

That being said, I would find the attitude towards discipline disturbing if it begins to become an issue at A&M.

It seems strange though. I mean he recruited well. As recently as 2016 he had a #3 class and had a #3 class in 205, as well. In 2017 they #6 class, so the talent should be there, unless they are just ill fits for the system being run there, now....which wouldn't be his fault....or perhaps a lot of players left. (Admittedly I did not read that article)

Article says it was key misses on recruiting and players who did not pan out --- esp at qb.

But again, bleacher.

DeAndre Francois looked pretty decent the 2 years Jimbo was there.

When you recruit like FSU does, it’s laughable to say the cupboard was bare talent wise. It’s pretty obvious Taggart had no idea what he was doing last year.

This sounds very familiar to another SEC HC who's had the same issues, and who's also pulling bank while delivering very mediocre results.

Didn't that coach win the West twice and beat 3 #1 teams in 5 years (including Saban twice) ?

Sounds like if Jimbo was in charge, we would have had to depend on Hollywood for that accomplishment. Then he would have bankrupt the studio.
