Well take any Miami game last year.
No doubt they reverted back to the old Miami....old meaning the last 10 years or so. Kind of meh. but they had a new coach (Yes, I know Florida did, too). I expect them to be at least a little bit better.

Miami is blah.
I won't argue that point with you, but some of you are predicting 40+ points. I just don't think that will happen. I mean, it could...I'm just not sure it will.
This was not meant as disrespect for Florida, as I think you are a good 2-3 TD better team than Miami.

I don't follow Miami closely, so I am guessing they are still with the team.

Huh? Dan Enos got there in January. They haven't played one snap under their new system.
My bad. I forgot about the change. Like I said, I don't follow Miami. But, Dan Enos has a good reputation, and well, Dan Mullen helped Franks in his first year.

Georgia had a great run defense and gave up 275 yards to LSU. One bad game doesn't account for the fact that we were top 20 for the Offensive Line.
Really, if Franks had more awareness we would easily be top 5. He had a lot of time last year. It's kind of sad you're reduced to cherry picking. I expect more from you.

I thought y'alls OLine was full of veterans. Are they young? Maybe I am thinking of another team?
I think we lost 3 - 4 guys from the OL, everyone is pretty new.

I am always surprised at the number of Florida players that grow with a year under Dan's system, yet players from other teams apparently stagnate under everybody elses system.
Dan Mullen is an 11 year SEC coach with a proven track record of turning teams around. To go from 4 - 7 to top ten is pretty astounding, especially to beat LSU, MSST at home and then trounce a Michigan team that has had our number for a long time.
And he did it without a Quarterback that fits his system.
Manny Diaz inherited a terrible offense while being a defensive specialist. Muschamp and Kirby are both coaches with extremely similar backgrounds -- good defensive coaches, never ran a team and both went 7 - 6/8 - 5 in their first years.
Running a team, especially one with an offense as bad as Miami's is really fricking hard. You usually need a year to get in the swing of things, and to think that Manny is going to be some anomaly and outperform both Muschamp and Kirby is, to say the least, not likely.
I'm telling you, Florida will need to come out flat, uninspired and in complete disarray for Miami to even keep it close. They have an entirely new staff going up against an almost entirely in-tact staff who has two years in their system, a system perfected over a decade vs. an entirely new system that neither Enos nor Manny know what's going to happen.
I'm definitely predicting a bloodbath.

I didn't realize that.

I'm not sure I would count one team as a proven track record. I mean, you guys made a turn, too, I guess, but I would wait to see if it sticks. Other than that it would be one team. That is not a proven track record.

Mississippi State was dead last or second to last in: Recruiting, spending, revenue, education, location, prestige and budget when Mullen arrived. He turned MSST completely around.
If you want to think that maybe this was luck that Mullen came to Florida and had immediate success with a team that struggled for a decade, I suppose that's just a really high ladder of doubt you have to climb.

In 2017 he had one game with more than ten yards rushing. His total yardage was 20 yards on 58 carries.
No. Franks' strength was not running.

I'm not aggravated, I'm just telling you what's up. Florida is in a prime position to rout Miami. New coach, dogshit offense, new coach is a defensive specialist. Our team had a very successful season with a staff that was left wholly intact from the OC to the DC. The only position's coach we lost was replaced by someone who is better.
Miami's gonna get it just like FSU did.

Naw Wr is the one position Freshman can really contribute at without too much drop off. Uga will be a top 4 team next year barring injury to their front 7, OL, QB. I would look for UF to be a 15ish type team next year.

That's no where near the record. Driskel was sacked like 9 times against Texas A&M. He also doesn't hate contact, he's just a wonky runner who wants to do too much when he has the ball. He had some pretty embarrassing jumps and dancing moves last year that he seems to have finally gotten over.
And the vast majority of his problems before the second half of the season is that he still didn't know how to adjust his protection. Dude's stone stupid when it comes to reading defense pre and post snap, but Mullen makes him look at least a little serviceable.

Not seeing that. We've been down this road with Florida before under Muschamp/McElwain. Mullen is definitely a step above but I don't see them being even ready to beat the likes of Missouri yet.

Okay. It is still one team, though. Nobody is arguing that he did not turn MState around.

Actually, this is where we will be hurting with an injury.
We are very deep at Oline, and okay at front 7 as a unit. We are a little short at DT, but have some talented young guys there.
QB is easily the most concerning position, though.

So what does it say that we beat the likes of...
LSU. Just last year.

My honest look at UF's schedule this year has them at 6-6 or maybe 7-5. Anything over that would be surprising.

Good, fair post.
But I think most schools could say the same. edit--- about the qb position NOT the Oline.
And even if Fl did win the East, or just win the GA/FL game, I do not think it would change the positive trend line GA is on at the moment.

There is something like 24/25 5* recruits on SEC East rosters, UGA has 22 of them. I think they’ll be ok in the talent department

Georgia has a two year maximum before they turn into "Man, this guy just can't get it done." and are looking for a real HC.
Thank God they went the coordinator route -- and a defensive coordinator at that. If Georgia doesn't at least make the Playoff with the arsenal they have, people will start to know something is up.

That's true...but our backup QB at this point is raw at best. Very raw. He is at least 2 years away, imo before he will be able to add anything meaningful. He needs a lot of refinement. Now, some Georgia fans wo't agree with me, and they may be right. He just looks like he needs to grown into his body. he appears awkward to me.
quote:I agree with his, too. The thing that scares me most about Florida is most of our players have watched Florida struggle while growing up, and then we beat them by 20 or so points the last couple of years. I am hoping they don't go into the game thinking Florida will roll over and die.
And even if Fl did win the East, or just win the GA/FL game, I do not think it would change the positive trend line GA is on at the moment.

See how easy that was? Smart has done something. he won the East two years...won the SEC one year, and played for a National Championship one year. Do you think Mullen will do that in his first three years?
