Aren't you the same one who was saying Justin Rogers was a "must get" for us?
Nolan Smith is not a DL in our system, nor was he recruited by Tray Scott. LINK /
BOTH his primary and secondary recruiters were LB coaches for us.
Travon Walker was a dawg lock, regardless of who recruited him. Hell... Kipp Adams (90% correct for the 2019 cycle) one of our better/more important "crystal ball" guys CB'd him in March of 2017... 1 month after Scott had been hired... pretty sure his confidence didn't come because of the hire. Walker wanted to play in Athens.
Ultimately, it's accurate to say that DL has been our worst recruited position since Kirby got here... Scott was hired *specifically* to change that... and it has not happened yet. Doesn't mean it *can't*... just that he needs to show some life this year... Go grab more than just what is easy. We have playing time for next year and if he can't give it away to elite talent, that's troubling.
You can offer up a free pass for the guy if you want. I've *personally* been telling everyone to give him his time, but at this point, it's up. Over 2 full years on staff already, working on your 3rd full cycle of recruits (I know people often don't count his first cycle, but he was hired in February... it was pretty effin close to a full cycle, other than the addition of early signing day). The only way he likely retains his position is either 1) locks down some elite talent this year or 2) just absolutely blows away expected development/eval rates... If the entire DL comes out looking like 2018 Quinnen Williams, and the young guys are producing, it limits the damage from not hitting on the high star recruits...
On the upside, it sounds like Burch is high on us with Clemson supposedly full with 4 DL... If he's able to land Burch, Cowan, and at least another top 200ish overall DL, he's safe by any reasonable standard.
It's not shitting on a recruiter to point out his performance relative to his peers on our coaching roster, and his peers at the position at the schools that we have to weigh ourselves against if the goal is SEC Champs and Playoff/NC success...

Yep and he made an official yesterday. Why wouldn't the #1 OG not be an priority for any team who has a shot at him. In a couple of years most of out guards will be moving on and depth will be a factor. He wants to play DL in college which has affected his recruiting rating because most recruiting services sees him as a top OG. I'm sure at one point you made mention to Rogers leaning towards the Dawgs when we were getting all those CB's.
Scott haven't recruited on the elite but he dam sure hasn't been average by any means. Take Clemson, Bama, LSU and Ohio St out of the equation and see where Scott fit in as a recruiter. That's top 5 in my book if the current DL recruits stays committed.

Burch's family wants him at USC. If he doesn't go to clempson he will be a Gamecock.
