Arkansas does really well at home.

Not going to argue any points, but will point out that we have won 2 out of 3 SEC road series this season. Last season, we didn't win one. Our starting pitching has definitely turned it around too.

All that said, one bad weekend is enough to knock any of us out West contention now. Tight race against 4 good teams.

Yeah, I thought a little earlier in the year that Georgia might was going to be a contender for a CWS run but they seem to be fading a little. Hopefully it's just a temporary slump because I kind of doubt they even get there the way they are playing now.

Watch the NCAA give the SEC 4 top 8 seeds and then put them all on one side of the bracket and pair up as many non-top 8 SEC schools as possible in super regionals
That sir you can bank on. NCAA does not want multiple teams from the same conference in Omaha.

What did State’s trip to Fayetteville prove?

that they cannot hit a strike zone that is as wide as the outer edges of the batter's box.

I would not read too much into last weekend's series. We rested two of our best pitchers.

It will look different if we play again...

Would you take that to the bank?

I think more simply, they don't want two teams from the same conference playing each other in the championship, which has happened three times with the SEC in Omaha. They'll give us a bunch of national seeds but will lump us in on the same side of the bracket so we just eliminate each other.

We only had one SEC home loss, though. We went 14-1 in Fayetteville and only lost 1 game to South Carolina. We were 34-4 at Baum for the season.

The NCAA will go out of its way to NEVER allow five teams from the SEC to make it to Omaha.

They’ll als do their best to have all SEC teams in the same side of the bracket.

With that understood, the SEC may just screw up their efforts one of these days. It’s almost happened a couple of times.

Whole lot can still change these next few weeks. Look at A&M pre-weekend vs. post-weekend (on the flip side, Ole Miss as well). Things can change dramatically still for any team IMO.

Wow you mean polls and predictions change throughout the season and aren’t always accurate for what happens in post season? Well I’ll be! Earth shattering.

It’s actually happened multiple time. 1997 saw 4 SEC teams in Omaha and an all-SEC final. 2012 saw 3/4 SEC teams in the semi-finals and an all SEC final. 2017 saw 3 SEC teams in the CWS and an all SEC final.

LSU will have their shot to take control of the West with Ole Miss and Arkansas still on the slate. Whether they will take care of business -- like they seemingly always have in May -- is another story in 2019.

This team is an enigma.

A little off topic but since you mentioned Jake, isn't Jake the nephew of OM and Panthers TE Kris Mangum? I have heard this before and was initially surprised by him going to State in light of the family tie in until I also heard the Mangum family has several members that went to both schools.

Jakes father went to Alabama and he played for the bears I believe. Don’t know about his uncle off the top of my head
