I said after the season that his field vision and ball placement in the condensed part of the field would be concerns.

Denver will get him with their 2nd round pick. Unless Oakland grabs him. Their are no other teams that need a QB before Denver in the 2nd round

I was surprised too; in 3 yrs we'll know if how right all the teams were.

Going to a team where he won't be expected to start will benefit him. He would have thrown picks like crazy if NY or Washington would have drafted him and pressed him into early service.

yeeeah BUT Mahomes was drafted like 10th and he sat too. New England would've been a great spot for him. I first thought Denver if he was taken early but NE is ideal if later.

Yea they all get into analytics and measurements like that, and i can see the reasoning but their are just as many awful quarterbacks with 10 inch hands as there are that are high quality. I say he proves everyone wrong, he has the most natural arm talent in this years draft, he has a good head on his shoulders, and in his first couple years no one seems to give him credit that he had at least 4-5 passes horribly dropped by his receives, in fact i seen one stat that had him near the top of the list for QB's with the most dropped passes for past couple of years. Those 4-5 passes each game would drastically change his overall percentage, just like the outcome of games, like JJ's awful in and out of his hands pick 6 against Georgia last year. He should be just fine and i think he will be a solid pro.

Goff has tiny hands too. Also nine inches. He won jack shite in college. Has a weaker arm. Is less mobile. Went number one.
The hands thing is overrated to some extent.
I figured the Chargers would take him though. Rivers is 37.

I was hoping the Denver trade from 10 to 20 was to lessen the price for Lock. And yes, the years of J'mon Moore and other dropping eveything in sight hurt.
If his flaws are correctable through coaching I'm still bullish. Has to be a good spot though.

He had one year in a real offense and looked alright in the system. At this point, he’ll go to a team he can sit and learn which is what he said he prefers anyway.

Love the spot and happy for Drew.
He'll get the time to develop and is with a franchise used to winning. Close to home too.

I don't know that it had anything to do with his drop, but I wonder if his maturity or lack of it played any role? He really seemed to enjoy college life, which is all good, but I always kind of got the sense that even as a senior he seemed to have a childish behavior. Maybe too childish?
And I don't mean any of that in a bad way. It was all positive behavior and enthusiastic, just having fun behavior. But just didn't seem like the kind of maturity you see in others.

Such a great point and I totally agree. In fact everytime I'd think of Drew needing time to develop the thought of needing time to mature was part and parcel with it.
Unless things have changed with kids today (which they very well may have), part of being a quarterback is verbally kicking an arse with linemen and receivers when needed. Flashing a little anger like an assistant coach on the field when assignments are blown.
Lock always seemed much more interested in being one of the guys instead of the leader of the guys.

Mahomes got drafted by a playoff team that traded up to get him. NY and Washington aren't comparable situations at all.

Mahomes has also played for 2 of the best QB coaches out there in Kingsbury and Reid. Alex Smith also took it on himself to mentor Mahomes.

I think it's a good landing spot too. But to say it doesn't matter might be a stretch. At least I'd bet Lock would tell you the difference between being Denver's 1st round pick versus 2nd round pick means millions. Probably matters to him. But I agree. It doesn't matter to me personally if that's what you mean.

I heard the difference between being drafted at 10 versus 42 is about 30 million bucks. Hopefully he makes that back over a long career. Felt bad for a good kid.
