Is LSU willing to sacrifice it’s status as “best value athletic department?”

Woodward is without a doubt an excellent AD, but his philosophy and manner seems to fly in the face of what a lot of LSU fans seem to value most when making coaching hires.
He likes to spend money. I am not saying this to devalue his ability, he’s an excellent AD and there’s more to making big time hires than just writing a big check. He’s clearly excellent at making a connection and selling a coach on a program. I’m also not saying it to make some low hanging “LOL LSU POOR” comment. We all know you’re not, no school in this conference is.
But Woodward’s splash hires do not come cheaply. Fisher’s contract is well covered territory, Buzz Williams got a nice raise, and Chris Petersen became the Pac 12’s highest paid coach upon hire in 2014. Woodward left the UW AD with an unforeseen $14m in debt when he left which caused some consternation.
LSU fans have constantly touted how their AD sends millions back to the school every year. They are proud of Orgeron making a bottom half SEC salary while still winning 9 games. Are you comfortable blowing up that talking point to take a risk, make a splash hire, and possibly not get the most “bang for your buck”? Are your administrators and donors comfortable moving toward the red and dishing out major money for an Orgeron replacement (if it comes to that)? Are you willing to give Wade a massive extension if a UK or KU comes calling, even if he hasn’t made it past the Sweet 16?

Who gives a shite
90% of the funds don't come from the fan, it's from big money donors
I don't care how they spend their money. I want LSU to win and to compete at a higher level than they are and that won't happen when you have Ed Orgeron as the HC
And?
Lol you're a fricking moron

Woodward was an LSU plant.
We sent him to Texas A&M to destroy your athletics. Texas helped with the planning, they are very experienced in that regard.
Dumbo Fishner and Bumble Wilmas are very bad coaches. Woody knew that. But he knew you bozo’s would shell out money anyway. You notice how immediately after Bumble was hired, Scott left?
It was all part of the plan.

Sounds like you are saying that you are melting to me.

Maybe. Maybe not. Will still be better than A&M across the board either way.

Are you willing to possibly get saddled with some shitty contracts to win more than you currently are

are you implying that A&M is "saddled with some shitty contracts"?

They absolutely could be, too early to tell

Considering how corrupt Louisiana is..I give it about a year before factions in the LSU admin are fighting with Woodward for ultimate control

Weakest credit rating of SEC universities*

Good lord... the passive aggressive love fest that exists between certain aTm and LSU posters is really sad.

I agree with you and I’m sure Woodward won’t have a problem getting donors on board. Will your administration be okay with it though?

That is what A&M fans were saying when we kept getting the coaches we wanted and yall tried to make fun of us for it.

Well you obviously have an inability to see the forest from the trees. LSU and A&M are different. LSU can win championships, and has done so multiple times recently. We will not overpay as A&M did with jumbo because we don’t have too. We aren’t desperate. We won with les miles.... a&m had a heisman trophy winning quarterback and still got their arse whipped and never even was considered a nation championship contender. No one has in 80 years..

Since 2010 you’ve won one conference championship in football and one in basketball. If you are okay with that then good for you but I suspect a lot of your fans are not, thus the massive celebration over the change of leadership in your AD. If you want to win more you need to spend more, it’s not complicated.
