I must be the only 1 not impressed with Lawrence last year. He threw up a lot of 50/50 balls that his recievers went up and got and against us all of the big plays were bust/Saivion Smith.

Well, I was impressed with Lawrence. The kid can play. But I also think that he is human and tries to force balls when he shouldn't. But I think that QB is obviously one of the strengths of their team.

Regarding busts/Smith, I think that it's very, VERY clear that we were outcoached in the Championships game. No, I'm not talking about Saban and Dabo - I'm talking about the coordinators and position coaches. We did not develop depth like we needed to, and we had a piss poor plan on defense last year going into the game. Yes, I know, injuries at OLB and corner were devastating, but we were a better team than we showed that evening.

It also should be remembered that we got inside the 10 five times and came away with 3 points, and Lawrence had nothing to do with that. If we convert in the red zone like normal, we'd have gotten into a shootout and seen just how good he was. As the game played out, our offense shot itself in the foot so many times that Lawrence wasn't really performing under pressure. We'll see how his sophomore season turns out.

You can downplay his talent all you want, but the guy is legitimately the best qb in cfb. If he were draft eligible this year, you'd see teams offering the Cardinals unbelievable shite to get him at #1 this Thursday.

You're completely right if we're comparing him to heisman year Baker Mayfield, they aren't even close. If you consider that he was an 18 year old true freshman then I guess we have to be impressed.

But you're right, pretty much all I saw all year was him throwing jump balls and those the receivers making the DB's look silly.
