Retirement has a hell of a team.

It won’t be because we didn’t offer him enough money. We aren’t poor. We just aren’t a destination spot. At the same time we were the 1st school that took a chance with him.

Kansas may have an opening soon. You think he'd stay at Auburn if Kansas offers? LOL He will be gone faster than you can say BBQ. There are a ton of schools he would leave Auburn for. Bruce chases the spotlight.
This post screams ‘someone please take him’.
I’ll hedge and say he could leave - who knows. but Bruce loved UT and that unraveled. We gave him the opportunity back and he’s built, i’ll Say it, an SEC power in a growing power conference. The arena is basically named for him here, he’s got the resources, he’s about to get PAID. What reason in hell would he leave?

Bruce knows he’s got it goooood at AU, he’s loves the place. And if AU had the money on the table to buyout Gus ($+30million) 5 months ago, they can pull a few mill and give Bruce his fair cut. He’s damn sure producing a better product than Gus for half the pay.

If Auburn somehow wins this, they’re going to officially become a basketball school and give pearl whatever he wants

You think if UNC ever gets a football coach that takes them to the playoff and has success there consistently that they won't be hired away by someone like Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, or Auburn?
Well Auburn is a football school, and now that they are having success in basketball don't be surprised if one of the Bbball schools come calling for Bruce. He seems like he loves the spotlight, and he will get a lot more of that at a school where Bball is the main attraction.

The difference is that UNC is a premier basketball school. Auburn is a damn good football program with history but they aren’t what UNC is to basketball.

That is true, but Alabama is definitely a football crazed state. Pearl is never gonna outshine Saban or even Malzahn, he can go to somewhere like Syracuse and be king.
Alabama will have this same problem if Oats does big things not saying we are immune to it, just saying it's definitely a thing.
If Oats takes Alabama to a couple of elite 8's I am not dumb enough to think he is gonna retire here.

Bruce Pearl outshines Gus Malzahn. 100% of the time. No questions asked.

Could someone hire away Pearl right now? Probably. If Auburn keeps this going and wins it all though? No chance. Basketball is money. Auburn will recognize that and do what is necessary to keep him.

Malzahn won a NC as OC and got you to one as HC. That's more impressive than en elite eight.
I guarantee you at least twice as many people know the name Gus Malzahn in Alabama than know the name Bruce Pearl.

Thats the nature of the beast in the SEC. Thanks for the obvious Captain Obvious.

Bruce Pearl outshines Gus Malzhan all day, any day. Bruce has energy, enthusiasm, and people gravitate to him because of his personality. Gus is polar opposite.
Auburn will pay the man and his staff what they’re worth.

Im telling you, attention is more important to Bruce than money. The guy cries on Camera on cue. He is a natural showman, he wants a stage bigger than Auburn, Alabama.

Bruce is literally the most powerful person at Auburn. He got in a pissing contest with the university president last year and won. You don't just walk away from that for an unknown.
Bruce also has a marketing and motivation angle right now in taking the underdog Auburn Tigers deep into the tourney, an angle that he wouldn't have at a blueblood.
Bruce is about to be the most revered and accomplished basketball coach in the history of the university which employs him. He will literally be at the top of the list. Don't underestimate the value of that.

He'll be at Auburn until they find his wallet in a pair of pants at the lake.

This is the last I am gonna say about it, but I hope Nate Oats gets us in a good enough position that when he leaves we can attract another very good proven coach and keep it rolling, then eventually we will have a history of basketball success and coaches will really be wanting to come to Alabama as a destination school.
That's really what Auburn fans should be hoping for with Pearl, the guy isn't old, he is 14 years younger than Coach K, if you think he will be at Auburn more than 2 more years you are kidding yourself.
