And even he committed like two years ago. Literally zero recruits so far this year and people want to give him another year. Baffling.

And he’s currently scrambling for 3 to 4 JUCOs but reaching out to 10-12.

Past 7 years and Mike hasn't done squat. 3 will leave and Mike will try to pull in 3 JUCO's to save his arse.

LOL

Will replace sophomores and freshmen with juniors and sophomores meaning we will have the entire team in those two classes.

Next year goes bad with Gafford gone new coach will have to get 6 new players in first year without any early signing period quality.

It sounds terrible to say but I'm cool with cutting ties with Gafford. I think he might be part of our problem.

Why? I think he's fed into his own hype in the wrong ways.

How is losing the only quality and capable big man on the roster a good thing?

Edit: And not having ANYONE to replace him...

I don’t see the reason in celebrating it. Can’t fathom how you think we will be better without him than with him.

Gafford has regressed because the staff can’t develop him a jumpshot and lack of other capable bigs helping him out. Reminder Portis had Kingsley by his side or as backup his entire time here, Dan hasn’t had anything like that this year.

The style defense we play doesn’t help because Gafford is having to cover up many mistakes and many times he’s the one closing out on the wide open 3 point shooters that someone else has left.

On offense his thin frame can hold up trying to post on the block every trip and when we run PnR the guards never look or pass him the ball when they have the second or two to do so, they pass around the perimeter to other guards and dribble, dribble, dribble.

The guy plays his tail off and is worn out from constant running and battling with size on offense.

Gafford has had a very up and down weird season, which has resulted in his NBA draft stock dropping significantly.

I'm not going to blame it all on the coaching staff just because I dislike them and want them fired though.

Portis developed his jump shot significantly his 2 seasons here, and Gafford simply can't. Nothing to do with the staff, he just isn't a shooter and this is quite common. The big knock on Zion is he can't shoot from the outside at all and scouts are very very worried about that at the next level, and this is the #1 pick in the draft. You aren't going to blame Coach K for Zion lacking an outside shot.

At the end of the day it's whatever, even if Gafford developed a bit more and was a bit better this team still isn't in much of a better spot.

Although I do like some elements of the team next year assuming CMA gets another year like most think he will that could make that team better than this years even with losing Dan.

I'm not trying to pick a fight here or anything, but from where I sit it seems like most of the people griping about Gafford not developing just haven't played the game themselves beyond pick up games on the street.

Gafford is out there competing with people who have literally played THOUSANDS of more HOURS than Gafford has.

It takes a LONG TIME to develop into a high level player and he just hasn't been playing long enough.

Mike knew that when he recruited him, obviously, and Gafford's upside is much higher than anyone you're gonna find with his level of experience because he is a freak athlete.

He isn't even close to the best all around basketball player we have on the team NOW, but has a chance to be drafted as high as anyone has ever been drafted out of Arkansas.

Also, to the person saying he doesn't ever get the ball on the pick and roll aren't really paying much attention. It's this team's go to play when we need points. He has about three lob dunks per game off the pick and roll game. Of course, it doesn't always pan out though, because again, he is playing against guys who have a shitload more experience than he has.

More experienced players have learned little tricks that Gafford simply hasn't learned yet and will only learn with more experience. Same with his jump shot. Dude actually CAN shoot. He just isn't confident enough in it yet to do it much in the games. Although yesterday he did pop a 15 footer. That was encouraging to see.

But dude did have a game this season where he was 9-10 from the foul line.

I'll bet anyone here a plug nickel that he ends up playing a long time in the NBA barring any injuries and he will eventually have a very nice all around game. I know this because the dude works his arse off on the court even if most casual fans can't see that when they watch.

ETA: So there's three different basic types of jumpshots. There's the set shot where you get the ball off a pass, square up, straight up and follow through. Then there's also the fall away type shot and the off the dribble shot.

Gafford may never develop a jumper off the dribble. He's too tall and he most likely will never need that in his aresenal (if he develops it it's bonus points), but he does need to develop both the other types of shots.

Right now he is trying to develop his set shot, but the fall away shot is the shot that is going to take his game to the next level. It allows you to create space once you've faced up your defender. Jab step shots, step back shots, etc.

He is still hundreds of hours of play time away from even being a confident set shooter. Let alone being able to create his own space with a shot.

He's very raw.

You need a lesson in manners.

It's always YOU that takes shite over the line. It's like you just can't fricking stand it when people don't have the same opinions as you do and you try and make yourself sound tough thinking you're gonna internet tough guy someone into kowtowing to your views.

Well, I'll just say if you ever really wanna give it a go you're more than welcome. Just don't be surprised with I end up kicking you in the fricking head, you goddamn miserable prick.

Also, I say a lot of shite around here. Some of it pans out and some of it doesn't. Do I care? No. I say shite to start conversations with fellow fans.

If you don't like discussing shite on a discussion board then go frick off some place else.

I'm gonna have fun bumping my "Isaiah Joe is the Greatest Shooter in Razorback History" thread here in a couple days.
