I only remember the Blues played there a few years until Kiel Center was built. I wish today’s arenas had the character of the old places like that.

The character was the overhanging upper decks. Everyone could be a lot closer to the action.

Lots of great memories in there to be sure.

The Arena (I refuse to call it the Checkerdome, because Ralston Purina nearly let the Blues walk to Saskatoon. Thank God the NHL intervened when they did) and Chicago Stadium were two of the loudest venues in the NHL and probably all of sports.

Sigh. I miss the pre-Bettman NHL.
