I could see this being the case for someone who has moved to the region as an adult, but in no way should this be a conscious decision for a “local.”

Just curious, were the teams you provided simply the generally accepted #1 in each sport, or is this your personal list? If it’s the latter, then you’re the worst kind of sports fan “fan” IMO.

No, but I do cheer for another SEC team as long as they aren’t playing my school, because it’s my dads alumni and I grew up cheering for that school.

I hate those types of fans. Pick a school for better and worse. As a kid I hated the Tennessee football/Kentucky basketball hybrid fan. Those bastards were the worst.

This is not uncommon if you are older

Bear was at UK for almost a decade and maintained those friendships at Alabama. Helped him recruit the state. Similar with Rupp in basketball as many families in Alabama have KY ties.

If you were not in the Bear, Rupp, CM era it may be less likely you are a fan of Alabama football and Kentucky basketball.

No. Not at all.

My wife is a die hard UK Wildcat but I still can’t root for them.

It’s Colorado and UofSC for me only.

No, an LSU fan here... But my grandmother was from Arkansas, and I always pull for them when their interests do not conflict with LSU's.

I’ve wanted to switch teams many times, but not going to happen I guess. Good or bad, I always watch.
