Someone help me remember...if we pick up an undergrad from the portal...are they eligible to play immediately? If so, that should be a major consideration every year for our staff.

They are only eligible if you are named Ohio State and know how to work the system. Typically transfers have to sit out a year unless they can provide a case that the NCAA approves

They have to apply for a waiver to not have to sit out a year. Waivers are given/denied based on the mood of the NCAA staffer the particular day when your case is heard although some staffers don't let their mood decide and, instead, flip a coin.

I literally repeat what insiders say and my shite gets jumped every time! I don't get it... I'm ecstatic about our class but I'm also a realist

Anyway I'm hoping we get Mclellan and Smith and I think that would cover it

You know what they say: a pessimist is an optimist with experience.

Count me among the dreamers, but when Steve Wiltfong wrote last year on 247 that Alabama would have the no. 1 class for sure, but wondered if it would be the highest rated class ever it got my hopes up a bit too much. Then Dax Hill flipped and we missed out on Thibs, Nakobe Dean and Clay Webb... But with Jordan Battle, Trey Sanders and Evan Neal the cup turned out to be half full after all. Roll Tide.

Edit: sorry, I forgot to mention that I love every bit of recruiting, roster and coaching buzz that comes out on these threads and that I'm very thankful to all those (Surge, Boz, Saint, etc.) who take time to share it. Thanks, guys!

Not that there was much doubt, but Bryce Young confirmed he’s on board regardless of Tuas decision. RMFT

Official Visits
-- Several Tide commits are taking their OVs to UA this weekend: Thaiu Jones-Bell, Traeshon Holden, Quandarrius Robinson and Brian Branch

Tide RB commit Kyle Edwards also planned to visit this weekend, but he's playing for the state championship on Saturday and can’t make it. He’s expected to sign next week.

Several OVs to UA initially set for this weekend have been delayed until January: Jahmyr Gibbs, Joshua Eaton, Bryan Robinson and Nazir Stackhouse.

Ask Farrell: Which program will have the strongest 2020 finish?

quote:

FARRELL'S TAKE

There are still a lot of interesting storylines heading into Signing Day. We ask Rivals National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell which team has the best chance to close the strongest with some of the prospects mentioned above?

“I think Alabama will have the strongest finish, although I still believe LSU or Clemson will finish with the No. 1 class in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings. Georgia will have a strong close as well, but I have the feeling Alabama will pull some surprises. It could be tight end Darnell Washington or flipping Rakim Jarrett or stealing Phillip Webb. I just don’t bet against Nick Saban. Oh, and watch out for Jordan Burch. He’s a wild card and Alabama is in there as well as anyone.”
