Not sure what to think on how Coach hands out minutes. I am all for coach and think he is darn good, but sometimes I don't understand minutes given out. KJ looks lost and just not at the level ready to compete right now. His old highlights he looked confident and shot well right now he's just a body not asked to do anything. I think Mitchell Smith atleast shoots the ball well and with confidence even if he sucks at defending, I can't say ive witnessed much more from KJ so far. Then with pinson and watson they vary so much, and if Pinson is in the dog house I understand but at the same time you got to let them struggle through mistakes to. To me we are playing for next season and after more so than this season. If we win now great too, but just don't understand minutes at times.

Santos hasn't been on the court in almost 2 years I think. So just a guess, coach is trying to get him re-acclimated to the live game. Even really good players can look terrible after long absences. If he can get his confidence back, he is a well needed bigger body.

K.J. has a much higher ceiling than Smith. He’s still getting his legs under him. Had a bad game last night though. Wasn’t alone.

I don’t get the Suggs thing at all. He’s neither the present or future.

This year is sunk. Play the young guys.

Santos is a waste of space.

So is everyone else that gets minutes at the 4. Hopefully Jackson is ready to play next season. Also need a juco or grad transfer that can be productive there.

Cuonzo has done a poor job of recruiting to his needs so far. I don't get the feeling he will fare well with top end big men. Tilmon came because MPJ was here and even then it is hard to say he is working out since he can't stay on the floor.

Pinson and Pickett look solid but we need 1 or 2 elite guys to go with them.

Well he’s taking over a team that had needs at every position and had his best player get injured right before both seasons. With Jontay Mizzou has 13 or 14 wins at this point in the season.

Because of the condition of the program after the 2017 it’s probably best to wait until year 3 or 4 before judging Cuonzo as a coach.

People are judging Santos too harshly. He’ll be at least a solid player once he gets back into game shape.

I'm not trying to say Santos isn't going to be solid, his highlights from the past say and show otherwise. But why not get him back to game shape in practice time or until he shows in practice he's a force again. So until then maybe play other young guys in his minutes as well.
Also I think Martin seems to not recruit by needs but by top available talent and will try to work out the best fitting system to maximize getting top talent over fitting one single philosophy.

When the entire roster needs upgrades it will look that way. We are still just barely removed from 27 wins over 3 years.

I love jontay but I don't think he fixes the defensive and turnover problems. He got pushed around too easy and with his lack of lateral speed, he doesn't match up well with a lot of teams.

He would definitely help on offense.

There would still be issues with the roster if Jontay was healthy, but he’s worth 3-4 wins minimum. It’s the difference between competing as a NCAA bubble team and just trying to get to .500

Jontay would make a big difference he is our best player. He would be stronger and a much better defender than he was last year. His passing alone would be a really big difference. He changes how teams would defend the team. Unlike Tilmon he can handle the ball. Instead of being 10-7 we would would probably be 14-3.

Most people forget he would be a true freshman this year if he had not graduated early.

I'd take just Jontay's defense. He blocked and altered a ton of shots. Throw in the other things he offers and I agree with those that say we are a bubble team with him. It also makes others better or at least doesn't put us in a position to rely on others as much as we are.

Jontay developed an inside game over the off season and Santos is the most athletic player on the team according to his teammates and coaches. We need to get another a 6'8 or 6'9 athletic forward to help Jackson, Tilmon and Jontay out next year. Especially one thay doesn't have to play with his back to the basket like Tilmon.

With Jontay we would have beat Temple, SC, Bama, and Arkansas.

That's the same highlights I saw that shows how good he can be. The athletic ability he displays in his videos is something no one on our team has, but on the flip side he doesn't look remotely confident enough to do that stuff right now.. Not sure if that's on coaching him more tightly than his old school did or just he's truly not back to speed.

An NBA pick wouldn't help the team?

Could be a solid player for us. But I do have to ask, what makes you think that? the only numbers to go off of since such limited time this year is from his one and only season at the D1 level. While sure he averaged 7ppg as a frosh, his slash was only 139. Mitch smiths is 175, heck Watson is 132 and hes very frustrating offensively. While I understand total slash isnt always a good measurement, Im just trying to get an idea or a reason as too why so many people are high on him. I do tho love his size and athleticism.
