A guy with a losing record in the NCAAT that was fired from a major program for wasting talent? Sounds like a CMA clone. I'm down to get a new coach but don't throw out names like Rick fricking Barnes, he's the exact same coach as Anderson.

As a head coach, Rick Barnes has 24 NCAA tournament appearances.

Mike Anderson has 9.

Tennessee is not a better basketball program than Arkansas. Neither is Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, etc..., but they all have better coaches. Hell, A&M is a bad basketball program, but Texas A&M's coach has made two sweet sixteens in the past three years and their fans want him fired.

if arkansas was such a hot job, why did Heath and Pelphrey happen? if its a desirable job right now, its because Mike washed some of the stink off.

rick barnes is a good coach who hasnt sniffed the 2nd weekend in march in over a decade. same with howland, except im not sure if hes that good of a coach, and hes shown a knack for burning programs down, which id wager will happen to miss st shortly with all the payment allegations.

bruce pearl can build programs up but we all know how he does it.

ole miss made a good hire in kermit, i was jealous of that one. jury still out on will wade, seems he can recruit but hes done very little to suggest he'll be a sure thing.

the best outcome of being the last SEC school to get a practice facility means we have one of the newest, so thats good. we obviously arent afraid to shell out top dollar for a coach, so that helps too. plus the ghost of banners past, which may or may not be helpful. tom crean knows all about trying to please a fanbase expecting a return to glory.

Well Mike would have to make the tournament every single year for 15 years to reach the same level.

This will be a great year to see if Barnes can prove something a little more. He has done a great job of being consistent enough to make the tournament but hasn't lived up to expectations while there. At this point, no way this Tennessee team shouldn't make a deep run.

Do you think the chances of a good hire go up when you artificially limit your hires like that?

People said we had accepted mediocrity with bert. No we (our administration) have accepted mediocrity with Mike. He probably will not be fired, and will retire here. I don't honestly hate mike, and like I said in another thread I don't know enough about basketball coaches all over the nation to say who we should bring in to replace him. What I do know is we will go in waves record wise with mike. With the peak not ever being that amazing. 2nd round and out is probably the best we will ever be. Years like this year, and the year after bobby/qualls will be the down year. Next year may be worse, and he may not survive it.

I have one question for everyone on this site who loves Razorback Basketball. Answer it truthfully please.

Do you see CMA getting a team of players at Arkansas into the Final four?

If not, after 8 freaking years, why are we not trying to better ourselves. Look, I would rather suck trying than suck settling!

Not exactly what youre trying to argue. The manner in which nolan went down is exactly how we got in this mess in the first place.

Nolan dug his own grave. We got BLM'd before it was trendy. Only 3 black head coaches have ever won a title and we were trying to replace one of them. Did you want Tubby Smith?

they did it to themselves. Heath was as much a PR hire as anything, i agree, but it was completely self-serving.

would have preferred they hired a qualified coach for the position and not someone with 1 season of D1 experience on their resume.

If we keep MA, who I wish would have had major success. He is such a good man and likeable person. Handles things the right way. He just hasn't won enough period. Or recruited to the level needed as well.

But, if we keep him much longer at all, at current progression, we are asking for nothing but average as a Program and fan base!
