This is a good point. I don't want to misrepresent my own views here. I can't stand Memphis. I never go there. Ever. I find another way around the river.

But I like Anfernee Hardaway. He is in my top 10 of all time favorite ball players and I grew up watching some epic basketball games between his team and mine. I hope he does well. He deserves it. What would have been a terrific career cut short by injury. He woulda been one of the all time greats.

ETA: I don't know if I've ever seen a guy who played harder than Penny. He left it all out there every night. And his game was ferocious.

I hate Memphis Tigers basketball. Their fans are worse than bama fans. Penny will be recruiting head to head with everyone in the country. He is plugged in. All the High School coaches in the country know exactly who penny is because they grew up huge fans of his. Hell he has his own shoe line and the coaches prolly had a pair. Penny won't be going head to head with UT because they will not be mentioned in the top 5 for the best players. Memphis will. Penny will be recruiting against Kansas, Duke, UNC, Michigan State, those types.

I have to deal with the fackers everyday. Can He coach, I dunno but he can damn sure recruit. I hope he makes them good but not great. Because if he is bad then their fans don't shutup bitching, and if they are great then their fans don't shutup with the shittalking ever. I need them to make the tournament every year and lose in the first or second round.

He can recruit Memphis but that’s not as talent rich as it’s made to be. He’s not going toe to toe for the guys that Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, and co typically recruit on a national level

Well, typically the truly great players don't make the greatest coaches. So we will just have to wait and see.

But the one thing I can promise is that his teams will play their arse off. If he starts reeling in big talent, he is going to do very well.

I hope you are right but i'm afraid you might be wrong.
He also has Mke Miller on staff that has some NBA championship rings and played with Lebron. He knows the AAU coaches on a personal level cause he coached against them. I think it is an easy sell to the mamas and daddies. You forget that the tigers play in the fedex forum an NBA arena that seats 18,000 and they will be packing it out regularly. There will be a couple of NBA players at the games on the regular like there were against UT.

I'm just laying it out there. He has proved me wrong every step of the way and I wished it would stop.

This was Tiger High’s first sellout in a decade. That fanbase will be excited for a year or two and then lose interest like they always do

Eh, his reach will extend past Memphis due to his name and AAU connections. I don't think he will be consistently signing top 5 classes but I don't expect him to fail off in recruiting after a couple of years.

Penny will overtake the state next year. Going to challenge Cal for best recruiter in the south.

Tennessee will be better than Memphis next season.

Tennessee returns 7 of its top 9 and adds a 5* guard and top 60 big.

A team with 3 senior guards+Grant Williams+Josiah James, etc. will be just fine.

This is certainly true.

I had stated earlier that I thought Arkansas has had the proper approach to Memphis for awhile now, but I honestly think it may be time to revisit that. If Penny does as well as I think he's going to do there, it would be a great rivalry to get going again.
