Alright I normally just take the basic decongestants and nose sprays and wait it out but I’m going to Houston this Saturday and don’t want to still have this drainage and congestion.
I know someone on here has some remedy or certain things that knock it out quick

A doctor told me to take zicam. It’s a zinc supplement that’s supposed to shorten the cold by like 2-3 days. Don’t take it on an empty stomach though. I did and I was throwing up within 5 minutes.

If the cold hasn't gone to your chest, you can ameliorate its effects with a netipot.

I've started taking zinc lozenges as soon as I feel a cold coming on and I either don't get as bad of a cold, or it just kind of goes away in a few days. Some doctors will tell you they don't work and some will, but they definitely have helped shorten my colds or at least lessen the symptoms.

Netipot is awesome. Hot whiskey works sometimes. Essential oil diffusion can help. Eucalyptus, thieves, lemon, etc. You could try self massage on the face along the cheekbones and browbones to help open sinuses.

Or just snort some tobasco to get the passages open

The saline solution in the neti pot kills both bacteria and viruses in the sinus cavities. If your cold hasn't spread beyond the sinuses, you should be able to knock it out within a couple of days.
Allow at least two hours between uses. Too much saline could irritate the sinus linings. Ideally, use three or four times per day until the cold is abated.
ETA: Seeing all the gunk being washed out of your sinuses is a big psychological lift, too.

Orange Juice mixed with cayene pepper and ginger

I just got over one and my doc gave me a sample pack of Xyzal. Box said it was for allergies so I was skeptical, but it really did clear out my sinuses, and without the side effects of most cold medicines. Didn't help my scratchy throat though, but I just ate throat lozenges all day for that.

top answer is right, but I've been taking Severe Cold ThereaFlu the last couple days and it helps. Zicam is better though and I just forgot about it...

Well, if you get the cold before it's moved into the chest there's any number of things that may work. Netipot works very well.
Also, if you catch it early enough you can dose up on vitamin c and zinc and that shite will knock it out as well.
I have an entire regmine that I do when I first noticed I may be getting sick. Aromatherapy, netipot, vitamin c, zinc, and if it's a tough one I'll also rub Vics vaporub on the soles of my feet while I sleep. And wear socks.
A person could always just google search "QiGong for (fill in blank with whatever ailment)" and you'll get loads of suggestions for how they treat illness in China with QiGong. Those things work too. The self massage works wonders.

Not really sure but my grandma used to do that. House would always smell the Vicks.
She lived to be 98.

I got some mucinex D, breathe right strips, zinc, airborne, NyQuil, and my fiancé came home with a Vick’s vapor humidifier... if I don’t wake up feeling like a million bucks I quit

Well, I'm not a doctor or anything like that, but I would presume it works by boosting the circulatory system by exciting the nervous system in the bottom of the feet. Dialating blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the extremities. Basically kicking your immune system into high gear.
I think the key is the wearing socks bit though. Because otherwise the eucalyptus evaporates too quickly and the results aren't near as good. I've done it both ways and can confirm.
There's all sorts of interesting things about our bodies like that. For instance, the inside of your arms are directly linked to your sinuses. You can test it yourself pretty easily. If you sit upright in a chair and hold our your left arm first palm up and slap the underside of your arm briskly with your right hand starting near the shoulder and quickly working down to the wrist slapping 5 times down the arm. Alternate and do the same on the right. Do that a couple or three times to each side and you'll notice your sinuses are more open and breathing is easier.
