Saban's retirement - the end is near

He's already 67 years old. Bear Bryant retired at 68. I would think Saban coaches until 75 at the latest and 72 at the earliest.
So Alabama fans have anywhere from 5 to 8 season left with Saban, man that's got to be scary to think about.

Bear retired at 69. Alabama state law required it
He was already in poor health though

That could come about the time Gus's 7 year contract ends and they can both walk away hand in hand.

Saban is in great physical shape it looks like. Dude will retire when he wants to and chances are he will never want to; doesn’t strike me as the guy who handles idle time well

Five to 8 more years with Gus as the HC ..... Now THAT is ducking scary ......

I figure he’ll go until he’s 75.

The problem is when you get into your 70's like Bowden/Paterno it's extremely easy to negatively recruit against you. That's why they didn't have any success the last 10 or so years of their tenure.

He could. It'll be difficult to make it that long with all of the negative recruiting using his retirement.
I think 75 is the ceiling.

It doesn't matter.
Auburn will always be Auburn.
Auburn will always be Auburn.

And every team/ person on this board would trade places with Bama too .

Yeah ok. I might be worried if ANY of our rivals had competent elite head coaches.

Tommy Tuberville, the definition of mediocre, beat Alabama six times in a row before Saban arrived.

Of course, but I wouldn't trade the aftermath that's going to follow. Expectations of a natty every year to hoping for one every 15-20 years or so. (As we saw in the post Bryant era)
That's a bitter pill to swallow.

Tommy Tuberville
Plus, get real if you think we are going on probation back to back again

He had one great season in 2004.
Just look at how badly LSU has wondered in the wilderness without Saban. And that's with ALL of the Louisiana talent to themselves.
The fall is going to be quite a spectacle. . .

I would be more worried if :
A) Gus was my HC
B) HC can’t count past 4
C) Young RB transfers bc of B.
D) can’t get anybody including a glorified High School coach to come coach there
E) Aftermath of all of these combined
