Am I missing something?

Obviously, we all deal with losses differently, but the number of “couldn’t happen to a better fan base” and “the melt is glorious” type posts on the SECrant seems seriously out of proportion to what is actually happening.

I’m actually feeling ok right now, at least compared to the last few losses.

Going into the game I expected a close loss and that’s what happened in the end. I wasn’t going to let myself “move the goalposts” until it was over and we won. Only part I got upset about was the fake punt. I’m proud of this team and I just hope they stay motivated to stomp the horns.

I wasn’t ok until I realized today that we really overachieved these past 2 seasons. I never got the feeling last year or this year that the national title was ours for the taking.

That feeling is reserved for next year and forward. Recruiting foundation and depth will be on a level it’s never been it. I will have very high expectations and will be very critical of our coaching staff from here on out.

A melt now would be nothing like a melt starting next year. I will not accept not winning it all within the next 2 years.

And I’m not so upset about not getting in the playoffs. I’d rather lose close to Bama now, beat Texas and have a solid year over beating Bama in the SEC, and losing to them in the natty. That would be a worse feeling to me. It would be very difficult to beat them twice in a row.

People say this just to make themselves feel better. Typically you will see it from an Auburn fan because they are still hurting over last year and then what their program has turned into.

Agree. It sucks, but I like where we are currently heading. It would be better to have beaten Bama for sure, especially when we were in position to do it both times, but we are ahead of where anyone, realistically, thought we would be.

The fake punt was horrificly stupid. But, looking at it through a different lens, Kirby is changing the mindset of this program, which takes longer than just changing it’s player personnel. The entire Dawgnation (not the AJC website) had become indoctrinated with “good enough”. I’m not saying it was an a accepted mindset, just one we’d gotten used to. Kirby isn’t afraid to bring the fight to anyone at anytime. The culture and mindset are changing. And, Kirby will grow and learn. I’d rather have an aggressive approach and take the lumps now, even as much as it disappoints at the moment. Kirby, albeit not the wisest of in game coaches (yet), is being aggressive. He will mature as a coach. His decision making will become more strategic and tactical, and his aggressive approach will establish and sustain a predator’s mindset. We’ll take our lumps, but the overall mindset is changing. We have hoped to win for so long, but we are ALMOST to the point of expecting to win. The players are there, and the rest of Dawgnation is coming around.

The Auburn idiots gloating don't even realize their team were all sitting home watching the game on TV just like them. And eating $49Million Gus popcorn too.

I was at the Acceptance stage before the game started. hahaa
But then I had to go through the whole damn cycle again after guarded optimism in the first half. Now I'm back to Acceptance....

Expected drivel from the sec rant. These are people who've never had an original thought in their head. If you read the rant, you'll get dumber. It's been proven. It's science.

Any accusation of a melt would be coming out of anger, fear, and jealousy.
We’re owning the east and poor little auburn just doesn’t know what to do with themselves. Think about being a Florida fan and seeing what you saw Saturday night...

We're loaded, with another great class coming in. We win it next year with a win over bama in the SECCG
