Man, didn't we have GT scheduled for 2019-2020 years ago, but then we took them off? I would've hated playing that triple option, but now that he's gone let's toss 'em back on.
eta: It was 21-22 and it got nixed because of the conference realignment and I guess the uncertainty that went with that.

Somebody's going to have a hell of a rebuild.

I hope it's a triple option coach.
I really wouldn't like to see a real coach recruit there.
I don't think "entrance standards" matters anymore. Even Stanford and Notre Dame let dumb asses in now.

The triple option has run its course, IMO. Not many high schools run it anymore, and the pool of kids who want to play in that offense shrinks more and more each year.
If they get a good coach who can recruit, they are going to be hell with all that talent surrounding metro-ATL. I know UGA runs the state, but they could seriously snag up the rest of the kids who go to us, Clemson, Auburn, etc.

(Academically) GT is hard.

I think the right coach could get them past the "difficult workload stuff." Their admissions standards should be the same as the rest of the ACC, right?

So is Stanford, USC and Notre Dame and they have no issues.
Unless it's because they are private they get around loopholes?
(If it's a private vs State thing, Cal or UCLA don't have a problem either)
These kids aren't going to GT to become engineers. shite when I was at school there were 0 scholarship football players in my business classes. They were all HRTM or SPTE majors.
I don't think admission standards are much of an issue for Revenue sport athletes anymore unless they are really bad in school and/or can't get above something like a 600 SAT

UNC was supposed to be also lol.

I grew up in metro Atlanta, and you could say that GT is a sleeping giant, but it's pretty much in a coma. Clemson and Auburn are the two biggest non-UGA sidewalk fans in metro Atlanta these days. GT is like Vandy, in that you really have to have a direct tie to the school in order to be a fan. It's just not a place that kids grow up following/liking unless granddaddy played there or something.
It's in our best interest for GT to get really good, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon, regardless of coach. It's an alum-centric program, and their facilities and relative lack of coeds hurt their ability to recruit big-time talent.

I mean all of these schools are still top universities for regular students.
We all know football players aren't that.
Even Stanford steers their players to take "football majors"

This is a fair assessment

That's a good point. I have a relative that graduated from GT in the 1980's, and he is literally the only GT fan that I know. His wife and kids are all Gamecock fans.

You can hate on me all you want.
But I kinda like that lol.

In theory, I like that, too. But in practice, it leaves a poorly supported program.

They've added a couple of "football" majors like management. They aren't as hard as they act.

I would imagine Scott Satterfield would rather have the HC job on the Flats right now than remain at App and wait out Mack Brown for the NoCar job.
Tech is a better football job in the ACC than NC is, anyways.

Hiring mack brown was a poor decision by unc. His age, and amount of time he will be coach, will be used against him from the get go. This doesnot help their future at all. He should have stayed retired.

South Carolina is like that.
We don’t have a bandwagon bunch like Bama has.
shite even UF or UGA
Not to the extent of GT but it’s certainly more unique than the other names.
I enjoy it

I’m not too worried. And the fans aren’t either.
That’s a basketball school
