Just happened across a few highlights from the 2010 team and I couldn't help but notice how different that team felt. The team had an identity and a swagger. Our receiving corps wasn't just making plays. They were making people look dumb. This is a receiving corps that made a secondary comprised of Eric Reid, Patrick Peterson, and Morris Claiborne look like morons. All of the jukes, snatches over the top, hesitation moves and other general uber-athletic moves have completely vanished from our viewer experience since that iteration of the roster was drafted.

Even as fast as those receivers were, they couldn't outrun Mallett's arm. I saw a play where Cobi Hamilton was just on a go rout down the right sideline on a new drive from the 20. Hamilton had completely dusted his man and screeched down to about the other 30 and Mallett still overthrew him by about 15 yards. Our deep threat was immense. That team just had the raw ability to make something happen out of nothing with pure ability.

I can't help but get excited because this incoming bunch of receivers has that potential. This is our best crop of WRs in a class since that Petrino team. If we can get a QB that can drop one 75 yards downfield Chad will have a hayday with this offense. We've got the horses to run, we just need to get the arm that can get it to them.

EDIT: I also saw a lot of audibles coming from the QB. It stuck out because I definitely don't recall seeing much of that the past few seasons. Really showcased how raw we've been at that position lately.

I sat in section 106 during the LSU game, and walked past a bunch of the more recent bowls along Bowl Alley. I stopped at the 2010 squad pillar (2011 Sugar Bowl) and just shook my head as I was overcome with the thought of "damn, I remember when we used to be good."

Being an Arkansas football fan just sucks now. Even if we're decent to good next year, or the year after, it still doesn't negate the fact that we've been in the dark ages of Razorback football for the better part of a decade now. The last few years have thrown back the curtain on our floor as a program as compared to others.

Well...

But yes, it sucks and has sucked for too long.

We have a bunch of players with a loser's mindset. Maybe they have just given up on winning or maybe they came here expecting to be coddled by fatbert. Whatever the reason they are stuck in loser mode.

Hopefully we will gradually replace them until we have a culture of winning. It will take some time though, unfortunately.

Well..

It made me vomit when Jeffie Long and Bert would always pound their chest and talk about the team's GPA.

I couldn't give a frick less if our team GPA was a 2.0, as long as we are winning football games.

I say, bring in the best athletes and get 'em on a good antler spray program.

Most certainly when GPA is touted the team didn't win more than 5 games the prior year.

To be honest, I always assume they're dumb anyway until proven differently so I'm fine with it too.

That said, scoring a 4 on the wonderlic is exceedingly special.

All of this.
There is talent all over the place on this roster. Except for the most critical position group on the field. The offensive line. We are terrible there. Have been for a few years now.

Want to point the finger at someone? Look in the mirror. We ran Jim Chaney off and that did us in.

Mostly on defense. All those stars on offense didn't really pan out. Devwah might have been better behind a decent line and Agim has been as advertised.

Enos was 10x the OC Chaney is.

I guess we will see how many play in the NFL. Development matters, and the previous staff was terrible at it.

My point Drewbie.

That's a chance you take every recruiting cycle.
Worked for Bob, not for Bert.

Chadillac, it remains to be seen.

Right, which is why I talked about the potential of it happening again.

Maybe. But if keeping Chaney meant keeping Pitman, we would have been better off.
