I don’t recall anyone questioning how much success he would have at Bama but I do remember LSU and auburn fans going on and on and on and on about how he would leave Bama the first chance he got. “He won’t be there more than a couple years.”
And then he didn’t. So they moved on to hoping and dreaming of such with every high profile coaching gig that came open. ‘It’s happening” gifs were, and still are, the perfect visual representation of their giddiness when they saw a world where they didn’t have to play a Saban coached Bama team anymore.
