Good article.
Seen a few people posting about how they need to raid the midwest... and it looks like they have.

Mark Stoops had never been to the University of Kentucky when he accepted the job as its head football coach in late 2012. Never been to Lexington.
Never been to campus. He didn’t care. If nothing else, he knew one indisputable fact. “Kids want to play in the SEC,” Stoops told Yahoo Sports back in 2013 on National Signing Day, his first with the Wildcats.
And that included, Stoops was certain, the kids in the talent-rich state of Ohio, where Stoops grew up as part of a legendary football family.

Wonder what took UK so long to figure that out.

Kentucky has done a great job snapping up the next tier kids from Ohio that are just below the Ohio State/Michigan threshold.
Marrow has been unbelievable.

It's nice having all of these Kentucky fans on the Rant for Football Season. In fact I've never seen this many Kentucky fans even for Basketball season. It just shows that they truly do have a great football fanbase.

Apparently Kentucky's cheating its arse off too!
Nebraska so incredibly Butthurt losing a 4 star to Kentucky Yesterday
Nebraska radio host suggests UK played dirty for Wandale Robinson; Vince Marrow responds
Jim Rose, formerly the play-by-play announcer for Nebraska football and known as “the voice of the Huskers”, seemed to suggest on a radio broadcast that Kentucky’s recruiting coordinator, Vince Marrow was offering more than just room and board and the opportunity to play for the Kentucky football team.
Here’s an excerpt of what Rose said:
“Kentucky assistant Vince Marrow, perhaps accompanied by a few ‘special friends’ of Kentucky athletics, hung with the Robinsons. When the meeting adjourned, one of them placed a call to (Scott) Frost. He was presented with the minutes of the last meeting and was asked ‘is Nebraska still interested?’ Scott had no idea who the guy was, how he knows Wandale Robinson or even how he go Frost’s number. The call didn’t last long. There’s a good chance Wandale Robinson will never again speak to the Nebraska coach.”
Now, we’ve yet to hear a whisper of any impropriety regarding Mark Stoops, Vince Marrow, or anyone in the Kentucky Football program during their tenure. This is likely much ado about nothing and just some sour grapes from some Nebraska radio personality who’s upset that Kentucky landed Robinson.
Right after this interview came out, Marrow sent out this tweet, which may have been a response to those accusations (or just a simple coincidence).
Robinson had offers from other top schools like Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State.
Nebraska don't ever change

Nebraska is butthurt about being an irrelevant program. They are on the level or maybe a tier below Kentucky in modern day CFB. And Nebraska will never come back. The Big Ten move only hurt them.
I would hate to be stuck in Lincoln Nebraska. Visited there one time and that was enough for me. I'd choose Kentucky based on the town itself.

The SEC should be raiding B1G territory more than we do.
We should also be taking their women strictly for breeding stock.

Stoops being from there is what was needed I think. Other coaches just couldn't penetrate and he is.

I don't think it's that it took long.
It was more a matter of trying to get them to come there.

The Kentucky-Ohio connection never clicked until I flew into Cincinnati over the summer and realized I was actually in Kentucky when I landed.

Well they gotta if they wanna be in this Conference.

quote:Well that and the accepted wisdom was Big 10 guys don't have SEC speed. We recruited the hell out of Georgia, Mississippi, modest attempts at Florida leftovers.. The Stoops / Marrow personal connection with the Ohio schools has really paid off.

I think a lot of Bengals and Reds players live in kentucky for tax purposes.
And I believe Lexington is in the greater Cincy area.

I actually get a little mad when people say they "rather win the right way"

Thanks for posting this. Good read.
EDIT: and of course Kentucky is cheating, lol. The only school in the SEC not cheating is Vanderbilt and you see where that has gotten them.

They do. Especially in Florence/Newport.

They’re not but it’s not that far of a drive. I’m taking a weekend trip to Cinci for the long weekend since school is out Monday/Tuesday. It’s about 1 1/2 hours from Louisville.

Yep, most people don't realize that.
