Many of us lived through the 3-8 SWC 1990 team. I still believe this team would beat that one, barely. That team did beat Colo St tho.

Serious question - why does literally every coaching change we ever have have to be a fricking disaster show ground-up rebuild?
Is it because we keep flip flopping between systems too much? Are coaches coasting and tanking the program?
I'm legitimately baffled at this point.

Well Houston Nutt had a great first year. Possibly because Danny Ford recruited extremely well.
And the hand offs from Broyles to Holtz to Hatfield all went fairly well. But all three ran some form of the triple option so...

Should win all non conference games next year. Add the the 3 M schools and you got 7-5

Oh look it's Morris' version of Bielema's hawgfaninnc. We get it. He does no wrong.

Pre Petrino most transitions were smoother, Lou, Hatfield, HDN. Crowe in 90 was awful and these last three changes have been brutal.

With a group of soph and jrs that the 3* players are starting over the 4*s.
Im not ready to blame chad on anything but the CSU/NT losses. 100% because he put Cole in those games over ty (who isnt very good. Thanks bert) this last loss is on depth, and chavis not adjusting to the screen.

Shitting the bed against CSU, getting thoroughly sodomized by UNT, Ole Miss, getting dominated by Vandy...You post against all detractors like we're expecting national titles or something. I can't lower expectations enough.

Because we don't belong in this conference.

quote:Coming into this season my expectations were 5 wins would be an accomplishment. This is a QB reliant system without a good QB or receivers, a patchwork OL, and Chavis trying to work with the same personnel that just came off of one of the historically worst defensive performances in college football. This year was never going to be anything more than Morris just getting here and laying the groundwork. Following the recruiting so far, we could lose every game for the rest of this season and I'd still be extremely pleased with how things are going. If you aren't excited about the direction this team is headed, you aren't paying attention.

We belong in this conference as much as anyone. We are never going to be a perennial power in this conference, but there’s no reason we can’t challenge for the west every few years, maybe even have a 2 or 3 year run at it once a decade or so.
We are not an elite football program, and being in a division with Alabama, Auburn, Texas assTomouth and LSU, in a conference that includes Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee, makes it very difficult to consistently compete at a high level.
I would much rather be an equal partner in the SEC, fighting and scrapping every year to compete, rather than take the automatic big 4 or 6 status in the Texas 12, once again allowing Texass to take the lion’s share of conference largesse, and dictate to us how shite is going to go.

I don't think 5. In a couple of seasons with the new recruits, we should start seeing fruit.

Let me put this out there...
Recruiting has been incredible overall, still need some Good OL for sure.
But, what momentum we had with hanging more on Bama than anyone else, keeping it close with TAMU, almost beating Ole Miss.... Beating tulsa to a shut out. It is gone.
If Morris keeps the recruits on board, he has some amazing juju mojo stuff... or we are laying out the $$$
Because if I were a 4* recruit, with several options... watching what was another disgusting egg laying performance with a crowd that was non existent... no way, no how am I a HOG! We have fallen to the pitt of misery that I never thought I would see in my lifetime.

We have talent on defense. Granted, there have been game where the offense killed the defense, but the legitimate scheme excuse that applies to the offense doesn’t really fly for the defense. If Chavis was good our defense would be progressing. It’s not.
Offense isn’t either. Sure, maybe we don’t exactly have the personnel to do what Morris wants to do, but we are still lining up 5 in the backfield twice a game, nor can we call plays that disguises the fact that our oline can neither pass nor run block consistently.
I don’t think a good direction is obvious at all at this point, with the exception of recruiting.

There are actually lots of reasons why we don't. Our best year in the SEC we were third in the West. We will never compete in this conference, we've shown that over the past 25 years. We've had like three good seasons since joining.

We’ve only had one good coach in 25 years.
