Why can’t Saban make up his mind?

First he says that no team has any business playing for the national championship unless it won its conference. Then he says not winning the conference doesn’t matter.

Fake news. This is what he actually said back in 2003.

quote:

"I don't think anyone will know who the legitimate national champion is unless all three teams in consideration get the opportunity to play one another," LSU coach Nick Saban said.

Or you might be referring to this quote.

quote:

Said LSU coach Nick Saban, "We're the only two (contending) teams in the country that had to play a 13th game. We had to do a little bit more to earn the right."

LINK

But Saban has never said a team that didn't win their conference shouldn't have the right to play for a national championship.

It is really according to the situation at hand.

About the same as it did for the other 3 coaches who coached that shitty Miami team over the last 15 years

It’s astonishing LSU fans do this to themselves every year. They’re like poorly programmed robots which go through one failure sequence after another, each year.

It also makes zero sense for Saban to ever say a quote of that nature. First of all, Saban has never been in a situation where a team that failed to win their conference has been in position to jump his team when they're in position to play for a national championship. The closest was in 2003 but the #2 spot was between LSU and USC, two teams that won their conference. OU, the team that didn't win their conference was ranked #1 and was never in danger of not making the National Championship Game. Second, why would Saban say a quote that essentially trashes a team he was going to play in the NCG (2003 Oklahoma)? And if he said it after the 2003 NCG, he would be essentially discrediting his own team for winning a championship under those circumstances.

Well it’s 2018 and apparently facts don’t matter anymore, only emotion.
