Do we get the NCAA sniffing around if we have a top 10 class after being so bad?

Reminds me of Ole Miss under Freeze a few years ago. Perennially shitty team and then they get the #2 class out of nowhere. I'm fine with cheating but I hope we're being discrete.

I just hope we get something out of it. If the best we do is same as ole miss that'll just be even more depressing.

This. Ole Miss' best teams ever couldn't even beat our shitty, Bert teams

Better to try and fail then not try at all...

Despite the record I'm kind of optimistic. The team that laid down for North Texas is not the team that battled Bama and A&M.
Kind of amazing actually... shows there's some pride at stake.

How did teams like 'meh Clemson' become 'CLEMSON' in the past few years? When Dabo came on the scene they started recruiting out of their minds, that's how.

There used to be a lot of mediocre teams that are considered perennial contenders today... because recruiting fundamentally changed for them.

I think we are good. Ole Miss shot up to a top 5 recruiting ranking. That alone throws up flags.

We should be good being around the 12-20 range. Not too attention grabbing. Petrino hauled in a #16 class while he was here, so its not like we would totally be waving a flag asking to be looked at.

Now, if we shoot up into the top 5, yea, we can kiss our asses goodbye. Im okay with that though, as long as we win something unlike Ole Miss.

Also, we have to be reported with credible evidence for them to even look our way.

Unless someone gets sloppy, not even a recruit/player could provide enough evidence

I was a pretty big Chad hater but this has also impressed me. I can admit that I was wrong. I thought he was going to lose the team and we were going 1-11, but now I think we'll get a few more wins.

Atleast you are considering the fact that we might sign a top 10 class.

This class right now does not raise too many red flags i believe. If we are cheating we may be playing this right. Sign a top 15 class. Win some games next year. Sign a top 10. Win really big the next year, and break it open.

It will just look like a program with a ton of momentum.

I think we all realize this will be chad's least talented team. Next year defensively may be less talented, or it will be young talent. The year after that team will actually be talented. We could win some games that year, and really break out.

Ole Miss just got greedy. They were signing the top rated players at several different positions. They were beating out Bama, FSU, and Ohio State for these kids coming off of back to back bad seasons.

We look like we are going to sign a top 15 and our team is improving right now. I think we are ok.

Let's not get crazy with the revisionist history.

Over the course of 2014 and 2015 Ole Miss won 19 games, beat Bama twice and won a Sugar Bowl. I'll take that in a hot shite minute even if it comes with the caveat the we have to lose two stupid games to a bad team.

I dont think this team is completely lacking in the talent department. we just weren't doing what they are actually good at.

The only way we're ever going to pull in top ten or better is if there's a bunch of 4 and 5* Arkansas players who grew up Hog fans. If we do it outside of that condition, I'll be the first to admit we might be in trouble a couple years down the line. We're probably going to end somewhere between #15 and #22. If we break the top 20, that'll be good for us, but not anything fishy - especially considering Morris has allegedly always maintained a reputation for being a recruiting machine.

Well, again I'll refer to my Clemson example... a team that pre-Dabo was very hit or miss...

Of their recruiting class currently ranked #5 on 247... how many players are from South Carolina?
One.
Have to start thinking differently if anything's going to significantly change... thankfully Morris seems to be doing that.

Question is... WHY NOT?
The whole 'not enough talent close to home' excuse that has been spun is utter bullshite.

Oklahoma also has only one commit from the state of OK currently... you have to instill a culture that broadcasts the message you're willing to compete, and have the resources to do it. If top talent can travel to fricking Oklahoma, they certainly could/would be willing to reside in NWA for a few years.

If the will is there (and that seems to finally once again be the case) then Arkansas certainly has the resources.
Just need a few people to believe significant improvement is possible, be consistent, and inertia will eventually take care of the rest.

I actually thought of Clemson right after I posted, but I tend to think of a team that pulled themselves from the dregs like that as an exception to the rule. Why not us? Good question. We have a precedent for being much better than this - even since joining the SEC, if not consistently. I think a lot of teams, including us, could raise their position if they'd stop making bad hires and stop holding onto the bad hires for too long once they do. There was no reason Bielema honestly should have gotten a fifth year, it has set us back tremendously.

I think if we could consistently get classes within the top 15 range, that's enough to work with to be competitive with the right coach. As far as doing it fairly legitimately, I guess context also matters, Ole Miss' recruiting was surrounded by a bunch of "wtf" moments and clear abandonment of care.

This is why I think we're clean or as clean as can be expected from an SEC school. I honestly just think we have a hell of a recruiting staff that got a class to build up some momentum and a handful of high profile signees recruiting their asses off for us. This class has been a very fortunate domino effect for us.

A&M recruited pretty well while chavis was there. Combine that with Morris ability to recruit amped up now as a head coach and you get the success we're currently seeing on the recruiting trail.

Morris putting an emphasis on everyone on the staff being a good recruiter seems to be paying off. Of course that might mean Fry may not be here much longer.
