Nick Saban: "I want to see nine or 10 conference games and two out of conference games against teams like Oklahoma and Arizona State but no one (in the SEC) agrees with me.”

Nobody is making him play Arky State, Louisville, Louisiana-Lafayette, and the Citadel. If he had the balls the AD would sign him all top P5 schools.

9 conference games
1 major OOC game
2 cupcake games

It's what should be the standard across the country.

Sure it creates a weird scenario where you alternate between 4/5 home/away conference games a year, but 10 is too many conference games, especially when everyone else is playing at most 9.

Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky would never get to play anyone but our in state rivals out of conference. Screw that.

Pretty sure Saban and Gus are the only 2 that voted in favor of 9 game conference schedule at the SEC meetings last spring.

ETA: Saban was the only vote the first time it was up I believe.

I'm sure you would love for us to play Arizona State the week before the Iron Bowl while you tussle with Alabama A&M. He's not going to put himself at a competitive disadvantage.

Correct. Saban talks. But he evidently can't get his AD to schedule tougher OOC. Maybe they don't listen to him. Or maybe he lies to the media about the toughness of the schedule that he wants.

He has said he wants to play 9 conference games and other schools in the conference do not.

Of course not quite the contrary, he wants to make everyone play 12 power 5 games because he’s the only one with the depth to get through a schedule like that. He would be coaching against Walk-Ons by the time the Playoff came around. He’s the best recruiter ever it would make coaching less important. He’d be all for that.

Your school CHOOSES to play those games. Nobody makes them.

Live with your choices.

You forget that teams have to also agree to play Alabama.

I agree. Especially with the current price of tickets.

That's the way it should be.

If your AD has balls, create a tough schedule.

If your AD doesn't have balls, have your coach cry to the media about how tough he wants it.

I have never heard Saban try and tell another SEC how they should schedule their ooc teams. He likes to schedule one good P5 team in week 1 or 2.
