you can look at Jalen hurts from at least 2 perspectives - he is a tool being used by saban for his needs, OR Jalen is a solid team player.
actually, could be both. saban is the master manipulator.

Jalen is the backup QB. He clearly has decided (if he stays and plays 1 more game) that he's ok with that. Implying that he is being hoodwinked at this point is basically saying he's a moron who can't see what is in front of him. And if Jalen decided to leave, that's fine too.

Dabo could have easily started Bryant this week (even for 1 series), and his eligibility would have been done. No transfer option. He did that kid a huge solid by naming Lawrence the starter and letting Bryant decide his fate.

The Kelly Bryant situation does give Jalen something to ponder. Jalen has one more year of eligibility than Bryant as of today. But Jalen has now played in 4 games. If he plays in one more this season, he won't be able to invoke the new redshirt rule for this year and he'll be down to just one year of eligibility like Bryant.
Will Saban keep playing Hurts? Does Jalen transfer now to save those two years of eligibility and therefore make himself that much more valuable to whatever teams vie for his services? Bryant has shown that he doesn't need to wait until December when he graduates.
