Never seen that done in College. Thought the 4 qtr went by quick before leaving.

Yeah, I wasn’t a fan of it. I understand why they did it but we had guys work their tails off that didn’t get into the game that might have with those extra minutes. Reps are important.

Didn’t they agree to this after APs center got injured? Never seen that before.

surprised the TV folks agreed to that, with Advertising $$$ and all..

We were into our 3rd walkon tailback. I'm not sure all of the reps were important.

That is correct. He had to be carted off. That's when Kirby went to their coach to get a "running clock" (which I have seen before) but was advised that they don't do running clocks anymore, probably due to the aforementioned advertising shite, but they can do an abbreviated quarter, which I had not heard of.
I assure you the advertisers will get together and make sure that gets changed too.

They ended the opener early a few years ago too. Instead of waiting out another afternoon thunderstorm delay. Just called it a game with 6 minutes or so left.

We played 87 guys...if we had gone deeper on the depth chart we would have been putting jerseys on kids in the "spike squad"

Which I'd pay to see.

And it sucks for anybody holding a winning bet for the game in a Vegas book...don't get paid unless the game goes 55 minutes.

Why?
They still, get exposure with better programming, as another game that is not pretty already decided comes on, seems the advertisers are better off with Q1 of a new game on
I can see them push for it to not be allowed for games in prime time spots with no other games on though. But even if they push for it, I think "safety issues" will win the day

They got a ton of commercials in the second half. The TV czar was right in front of us and the injuries gave them long commercial breaks.

I thought it was a classy move by CKS.

I did too and don’t have a problem with it. AP doesn’t have near the depth we do so those kids must have been exhausted. Plus it didn’t seem like it shortened the game that much watching on TV.

Didn't they cut short the Southern game a while back?

The game went exactly 55 minutes.
My buddy who lives in Vegas said the casinos paid off.

Game was shortened by 10 minutes which equals 50 minutes...15 minutes per quarter.

Game was shortened 5 mins, a 10 min 4Q.
Also, you can still do a running clock, I believe Ga Tech did it.
Also, the ref is the one who approached CKS about it and after he agreed, the red asked the AP coach.
