August 30, 2008 - Atlanta, Georgia
#9 Clemson vs. #24 Alabama

Full Game

Highlights

Alabama held the supposedly-explosive Clemson offense to just 188 total yards and 11 first downs.

A dynasty was born.....10 years ago today.

I was there that day. My wife is a Clemson grad and I took her to that game in ATL. I felt bad for her and all the Clemson fans that had there hopes up...it was the end of Tommy Bowden's career.

I can only imagine the thoughts racing through an LSU fans head seeing that live, a year removed from your own national championship. Not trolling at all, must’ve been at least a slight sense of dread creeping in.

Wouldn't a dynasty include a period of time over multiple head coaches?

dy·nas·ty
'din?ste/
noun

a line of hereditary rulers of a country.

"the Tang dynasty"

"the fourth king of the Shang dynasty"

a succession of people from the same family who play a prominent role in business, politics, or another field.

"the Ford dynasty"

You have it right, the dynasty is the players being Nick Sabans, 10 times removed.

Something Ole Miss wouldn't know about.

This game also had my favorite predictions sticker article.

Because frick Clemson, that's why.

Holly Anderson is funny as hell.

quote:

#24 Alabama @ #9 Clemson

SWINDLE: IRRATIONAL: Alabama. We now reach into the UNO deck and pull out the "Tommy Bowden Flip" card: what are the expectations? Massive success? Flip that, take its opposite, and you lose your turn in the process. We just think Alabama's going to win for reasons that go no further than a bet on Clemson to come through completely on expectations is a bet for defeat.

HOLLY: IRRATIONAL Bama. Because frick Clemson, that's why.

A lot of people forget that Tommy Bowden used to make the recruiting promise to kids that they would get the first touch of the season at their position.

That game is the perfect reason why that's a terrible idea. He promises Jamie Harper the first carry if he comes to Clemson. Jamie Harper signs with Clemson. Despite having James Davis and CJ Spiller, both of whom were better backs than Harper, he gives Harper the first carry. Fumble.

Dabo’s career as a head coach started that day too. Bowden never recovered from this game and was replaced by Dabo a few weeks later.
