I have seen the QB take a snap, garbage time at Ohio State be darned. Etling was a manager, but Burrow is a talent. He may or may not pan out, but the indication is that he will. Thus, trending upward.
No doubt we have little experience at RB. But we have Giles at WR with plenty of experience, as well as Foster Moreau who is an experienced tight end who will feature in the passing game. We also have other receivers who, again if they pan out as expected, are as talented as they come and should be something to watch. Just because not all have played yet doesn’t mean they shouldn’t play well.
We did have the number one Juco transfer come in at tackle. But there was not a swath of incoming OL talent because there was not a lot of talent that left. I think all of our OL has now started or at least seen significant game experience now. They gelled by the end of last season, and we still have some youth but now it’s experienced. No doubt the OL is trending up.
Plus, our notoriously poor offense no longer exists, scheme-wise. We have a coach that won’t lie to us about the offense and our receivers are our strength. We’ll be passing for once, and we have the playmakers to do it.
I don’t know how you’re supposed to play a snap of football before the first game, but that doesn’t mean it’s not all trending up. It could all crash and burn. Or soar. But right now, we’re looking up. Thus, trending up. We gotta play the games now, but so does everyone else.

I know your defense had a good spring and fall camp but it does go against a mediocre offense everyday. The Ole Miss defense looks good against LSU

Good ole Jacknola, the moron.
Yeah that’s typical Tr stuff... make a completely idiotic claim then call anyone who questions it with facts childish names. But but but “Brandon Harris is gonna...” “...this team has eight first round BFL draft picks, lock...” this crappola every year...every dam year.
Neither Fehoka who is a freaking transfer from Texas Tech not even recruited in the SEC), nor big slow always injured Lawerence would start for the top SEC teams, much less tops in the nation. Chelvin? You have to be kidding ... he has no playing history to justify placing him as elite anything. And who on the bench is top SEC quality that provides the depth? “ Uhhhhh well Boudreaux, and Tgibadoux, and Bobby Bouchea..” keep in mind the LSU front was blown off the ball in multiple games last year including by Troy. Yet that same group is going to be “best in nation” this year? That is just Tr logic at its finest.
Now quickly name one LB for LSU that would start at Alabama other than White...heck ... just give the name one other LSU LB period... I’m waiting... the silence is deafening... because no one knows these guys...they have no outstanding playing history, and no one other than Tr is impressed with the group that no one has ever heard of. Yet LSU is supposed to play the best 3-4 defense in the country with a group of no names, no history, no credentials, no depth, filling the roster?
Secondary? Well, Williams seems solid but every other player in the two deep has limited playing time AT BEST, much less playing time with each other. Even adding up recruiting stars doesn’t give anything close to “best in SECwest” much less “SEC,” much less “nation.”
Maybe the defense will prove to have the physical skills and intelligence, and will develop the communication to be a good unit. But in no way imaginable is it ever going to be “best in the nation,” except in the pre season minds of juvenile Tr fans.
Oh.. spare me your pitiful attempt to offer “proof” of that silly statement by quoting names from the roster. That only shows how little you know about the rest of the SEC.

LSU put up 40 and Guice rushed for 276 against Ole Miss last year
The year before LSU put up 38 and Fournette rushed for 284

It's like you do nothing but talk out of your arse. The last two years we've played them we've scored 38 and 40 points.

Alcohol is really taking a toll on you Jack. Prayers sent.
LSUs DBs and LBs are better than Alabamas. Your take on our DL is so misguided it's hilarious.
And why are you bringing up Harris? Has Alzheimer's ruined all your memories from the last two years?

Hah SunGod my friend...I quit drinking 25 years ago... and I have SECw rosters all lying in front of me. I do appreciate the fans oppptimism...but really... would ANYONE, even the most ignorant Tr fans, second your suggestion that LSUs DBs and LBs are better than Alabama? Seriously? And for all his physical skills, White was often lost last year apparently because of confusion on responsibility or over pursuit... which means he is” a work in progress.”
And it was not me that breathlessly declared “Brandon Harris for Heisman” before he took a meaningful snap or waxed estactic last year about all the first round NFL draft picks LSU had. You people lose your freaking minds every year because Y’all don’t have a clue about the rest of the conference!
I do hope LSU slaughters Miami.

It's not really even close. You keep talking about "proven players" on defense, but Alabama has fewer than LSU in that regard by a good margin.
Harris for Heisman? You took that seriously? Feel bad for you Jack.
It was only LSU fans who said we had several possible first round picks? News to me.
Keep fighting the "good" fight Jack

The success of the defense will depend on the offense. If the offense sucks then the D will wear out and get gutted by good teams in the 4th.
Posted on 8/29/18 at 2:56 pm to lodgedup
Probably the best defensive player in the country...maybe second only to Ed Oliver. Maybe a very good defense but not only is this severely overstated, you are forgetting something very important. That offense is going to suck balls and your poor defense won’t be able to stay off the field and will be mush by the second half after defending 40-50 snaps in the first half. You are also forgetting that you have a G**D*** ogre as a head football coach and one of the worst offensive coaches in the history of the SEC calling the plays. That doesn’t equal success. Man...this is going to be a painful year for LSU. I hate it for y’all. I like LSU and want y’all to win every game not against Auburn...but that doesn’t make me oblivious to your impending doom

You’re not even top three in the conference.

They won't be and the logic that insert players are already better Bama's is a total lapse in reality. Nothing is proven, like at all. However, when we beat you again, what excuse will you use?

White and Williams are unquestionably better than any LB or CB on your roster.

Yet you will lose by 2 TD’s despite it.

I tend to agree.

I don't agree with this though. And if you only win 7 or 8 games, does it matter how good one half of your team is really? I mean it's a great honor and all but if the other half of the team isn't performing well, chest-beating won't win you a Natty.
