Why Drew Lock will win the Heisman in 2018

Unlike last season, the hype train is officially rolling going into 2018.
Drew grabbed the bull by the horns last season on his way to easily breaking the SEC's single-season passing TD record with 44 TDs.
He will likely become only the 3rd SEC QB to throw for 100+ passing TDs in his career, in a conference where defense is king. Going into this year, his sights are squarely set on Aaron Murray's record of 121 (Drew is at 71 currently... reach that, and the award is his).
His 62 completions of 20+ yards last year is the 3rd highest mark in the SEC since 2010. Only Swag Kelly and Johnny Football have had higher marks in that span. That big play ability will place him on your College Gameday Final highlight reel week in and week out, merely adding gasoline to his Heisman campaign.
For those that still aren't convinced, thinking he's a system guy or something silly like that: During his 2017 season, Lock threw a TD on 10.5% of his pass attempts. Cam Newton is the only SEC QB to have a higher single season rate since 2010 (10.7%). Across the nation, Baker Mayfield (twice), Russell Wilson, and Jake Browning are the only P5 QBs to have higher rates.
As we all know, the Heisman is in many ways a team accomplishment. Well, in 2017 Lock was sacked on only 2.6% of his dropbacks. This is the 3rd best rate in a single season among SEC QBs since '10 (in 2016, he was sacked on only 2.9%, both are top-5 in SEC). A testament to the Missouri Tiger's excellent offensive line play. Well, Missouri's O-line returns 93.8% of its starts from a season ago. Only 3 SEC schools return more for 2018.
More to come...

I understand why many on this site point to his below average stats against ranked opponents. I get it. He hasn’t been good against most ranked opponents he’s played against.
But then people forget that Mizzou recruits like garbage and has Barry Odom as head coach. Kid is throwing to 3 star WRs that only got offered by Rutgers and his defense is littered with fringe 3 stars who wouldn’t make the squad at Baylor. Joking aside, his supporting cast on both sides of the ball is trash yet he’s shown he’s an elite player.
He’s a great talent that many trash without taking into consideration the players he’s working with.

You don't win the Heisman on an 8 win team any more. Show me where there are ten wins or more on their schedule.

and I will win the lottery

1. Mizzou won't be good enough for him to win the Heisman.
2. Mizzou might not be good enough for him to win 1st team All-SEC honors, with Tua, Stidham, Fitz and Fromm.

Lock is a very good QB. But Mizzou will not be good enough for him to win the Heisman.
Also, holy hell what a cupcake division the East has been for years.

He isn't Paul Hornung, a 6-6 team isn't going to win a heisman just because the QB was their only weapon.

Lock is gonna be the 1st overall pick but he’s not going to win the heisman. Missouri isn’t going to win enough.

Reasons he won’t win the Heisman:
1.) Derek Dooley

Will Grier will win it this year.

Have to complete better than 57% of his passes which was good for 11th in the SEC last year. There are plenty of QBs out there who can lead the league in pass attempts and yardage when the rest of the team is garbage.

He has to pass so much because your defense cant keep the other team from scoring.

This reminds me Farmers Kyle Allen, That short kid at OU, and Tate for Heisman threads
Those were gold

I too have dusted off my copy of NCAA 14 in the last week or two.
Didn't read the thread but guessing that's what you are talking about, because real-life Drew Lock ain't winning the heisman on a 7-5 squad coached by Derek Dooley...
