Alabama has landed its third commitment in the last year from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy, this time from 4-star offensive lineman Darrian Dalcourt.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder took to Twitter to announce his decision on Thursday evening.

Dalcourt chose Alabama over Ohio State.

Alabama also retakes top spot in the 247 composite rankings.

The scary thing is the best one to come from that team may be rising junior OLB/DE Chris Braswell.

Unless you guys have another couple of guys who are going to pop off pretty quickly, it looks like DJ Daniels on the 16th (assuming he chooses UGA) would likely be enough to shift it back to a ~1 point UGA lead. Thats if others that have been mentioned as close to going public don't go first...

I imagine it bounces back and forth quite a bit. And quite honestly, I wouldn't put it past Saban and Kirby to be milking the system for all it's worth and scheduling commits to ladder up... Feels like the kind of next level devious shite that Saban might use Kirby for before scooping up the haul at the end to take the win or something..

Honestly don't give 2 shits whether we're 1 or 2... 1 would be nice to give you guys hell, but so long as we're in the same ballpark, then we're not falling behind and everyone else is playing catchup.

Trey Sanders may pop for us, again, in the very near future.

It also looks like Siaki Ika is ready to shut things down. He may or may not have a committable offer from Alabama. I certainly wouldn't have predicted Dalcourt as our next commit.

Don't seem like the typical dominant Bama OL recruit.

Actually he does. Our line may have two or three big time players but the rest are these types.

He’s pretty much the typical interior OL Alabama has taken over the years. And a Maryland guy. Pretty sure Locksley would sign the entire Top 15 in Maryland if Saban would let him.

He's a composite 4-star mauler from a powerhouse program. He's exactly the type of OL we usually sign. Bama typically has one 5-star starting on the OL and a bunch of 4-stars and maybe even a 3-star.

If Bama's in the top 5 is good enough. The higher may be better but the difference between a few players here or there means nothing. In reality, the 6th ranked class could be the best. Everyone is just guessing. Saban's classes are usually reasonably legit because he is a master evaluator, but to put the fine point on the rankings/guesses that many fans do is really laughable. But these sites are making a killing and most of the coaches and players snicker.

OL along with QB are by far the toughest positions to evaluate and project because of the mental component in these positions. Bradley Bozeman, Bama's center from the previous 2 years, drafted and still on the roster with Baltimore, was a 3 star greyshirt. Bama's had a couple of top 4/5 star JUCO OL never start or barely start the last few years. OL is tough evaluate. Your OL coach Pittman is a very good coach, the only one on your staff that scares me. If he wants a 3 star more than a 5, I would take the 3. If Pruitt really wants a 3 star DB over someone else's 5 star, so do I; same with Bill Oliver. He's great at many things but the primary key to Saban's success has been talent evaluation and development. That, along with maniacal drive and focus, is where he separates.

Last year Bama had 2 walkons starting on D. If the coaches at the top recruiting schools are taking players at this point, I would rather have them than a much higher rated player even though the PR still matters a bit even though it shouldn't. The 3 star that you have that most of your fans would like to throw back because of the effect on the rankings is likely a better player than some of your 4 and 5 stars. If you are scrambling at the end and take one, then maybe not, but if you are willing to take him now, y'all think he is a player. Bama had 2 5 stars starting on defense last year and 2 unranked walkons. One graduated the other is still here and a projected starter. His only offers were Old Dominion, West Ky, Tulane and UAB.

Never heard of him honestly. He could have been an option for OSU but I didn't even know he had an offer

His 89.58 ranking is right at the LSU ranking of their current AVG recruit (89.90) that is committed.

Is UMd a sleeping giant? They're in the tougher B1G division, but it seems like the state of Maryland has been producing a lot of talent recently.

If they were in the ACC Coastal, I think they'd be a sleeper this year. Moving conferences helps money wise, but it seems like most the teams that have moved from one P5 to another have struggled.
