Some of our top players this year were lanzilli and turner so I think our staff gets it

Fortunately, they have a mediocre coach. They had an elite lineup this year and didn’t do much

Parker Rowland joins Arkansas baseball after hitting .408 with 12 home runs in 2022.

Why is our '24 class so fricking bad?
We haven't had a class outside the top 5 since 2018 and we're #21 for '24. I don't see anyway this class even gets top 10.
And it's not that early in the class, everyone has 10 to 15+ already.
Tenn, MSU, Vandy, Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, Georgia are all top 10 and all have 4-6 in the Top 100. All also have a 9.20-11.00 player average.
Arkansas at #21, has zero Top 100 with 11 commits and a 5.36 player average. We are 39th by player average. 39th.
Our class is barely ahead of ECU and USF.

Didn't our class that was ranked in the 40's one year turn out amazing with Kjerstad, Martin and others? It ended up being better than some of our top 5 classes lol.

That class was ranked third

Looking the profiles of the players currently committed in the class, notice how many don't have a PG grade or updated ranking.
Only commits with grades (dated ones):

Sam Lee - 8 grade on July 31st, 2020
Brenton Clark - 8 grade on June 16th, 2020
Lance Davis - 7.5 grade on July 31st, 2020
N/A grade
Carson Wiggins
Ross Felder
Cameron Carter
Cole Gibler
Gideon Motes
Nathan Huie
Koyal Gray
Also 2024 commits were sophomores in HS this past year.

That'll do it. Just looking at the first guy on the N/A list, he's already throwing 93 and just turned 17 (good for the 99.85 percentile in his class). I imagine the ranking is going to shoot up as more of these guys get a grade on them.

Not sure how many Wiggins boys there are but I watched one of the little brothers pitch in 2020 and he was not very good. Hopefully he improved a bunch or he was just really young.

Hopefully that's all it is. Those other guys already have a bunch of high ranked guys.
Concerning a bit but still aways off and we'll take a handful more.

South Carolina pitcher Julian Bosnic to Arkansas. Was injured last year.
Very very good 2021.
REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2021)
Made 22 appearances for the Gamecocks with four starts on the mound
Was 4-2 with a 2.84 ERA, four saves and 78 strikeouts in 50.2 innings pitched
Held opponents to a .133 batting average while SEC opponents hit .127 off him
Set the Carolina school record with eight consecutive strikeouts against Dayton (Feb. 21)

Some saying he could be a draft risk so hopefully he makes it

Arkansas under DVH always recruited high numbers in the recruiting class because so many draft opportunities/moving on and he wants competition in the squad for fall ball before cuts but I really like the aggressiveness shown with this class.
The rebuild your roster every year was a thing with DVH before the transfer portal arrived but the way recruiting has evolved in particular with baseball is fascinating to me.
JUCOs are getting an influx of talent because of the new draft rules and not as many rounds. Also HS guys not making D1 rosters against older players heading to JUCO then back to a D1 program after maturing like our Caleb Cali recruit.
It's now a combination of HS players, draft-eligible portal transfers, grad transfers and JUCO physically developed players.
The portal is also becoming a huge leverage tool to use against MLB teams for potential draft picks and those choosing Arkansas as a program they can threaten to not sign if they don't get the signing bonus $$ they want plus factor in the NIL money if it's anywhere close to the signing bonus $$.
Prospects scattered all over the MLB draft rankings and draft mocks have entered the portal as draft-eligible college transfers.
