Who else likes Dinosaurs? I love them. They are so cool. Like real life actual monsters roaming the Earth.

In this thread we can discuss our favorite Dinos, Dino shows, Dino fiction, etc.

One good dino show can be seen on Youtube. I watched it yesterday and gave it 5 out of 5 thumbs up. It is called THE MARCH OF THE DINOSAURS. It follows a little leaf eater dino living on the North Pole trying to get south to Canada in the Winter. Lots of bad stuff happens to him, he gets separated from his family and he almost gets eaten but then an old dino comes and saves him...but the old dino has a brain tumor. It was sad. I won't tell you what happens to the little leaf eater in the end so don't worry, I didn't spoil it but I highly recommend it. You can watch it here: LINK

Another good documentary is the original Dinosaurs series from Fox. I liked how they added humor to the history to make it more entertaining:

A good Dino Anime is EXTREME DINOSAURS, it is JAMPACKED with ACTION and LAUGHS. LINK

My favorite Dinosaur video game is ARK Survival Evolved, you play as a ancient biblical character and have to survive with the dinosaurs. They will try to attack you and destroy your home and you can kill and eat them or give them food and make them your slaves.

Honorable mention goes to the DINOSAUR DIGS! expansion pack to Zoo Tycoon where you can add dinosaurs to your zoo. My favorite thing to do is to feed visitors who give my zoo bad reviews to the dinosaurs. It also saves money on buying food for the dinos.

I don't know why I'm even bothering to say this because we're all going to have the same answer but my favorite dino movie is The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration because it has Keifer Sutherland in it.

The best dino book I have read (and continue to read) is The Complete Book of Dinosaurs:

My favorite dinosaur is the ANKYLOSAURUS. He is one BAD CUSTOMER. You wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley in the middle of the night. Just look at those spikes and that club on that tail!!

Alright dino-lovers, what are your favorite dinos and dino related media?

They just walked right over the edge. I heard they had small brains and were angry. Most of them would have turned in to LSU fans if they had survived.

All your representations of Dino's are outdated. Not a single feather in those pictures

If chickens weighed 100+ pounds they would be the most terrifying animals on the planet, basically like the velociraptors from Jurrasic Park

My favorite is deinonychus.

Deinonychus' weapons. It would definitely be a maneater if it lived today.

Deinonychus' favorite prey which it hunted in packs

It was about 6.5 to 8 metres (21 to 26 ft) long and 3 metres (9.8 ft) high in a bipedal stance, with a mass of somewhere between 1 to 2 tonnes (1 to 2 short tons). It had an unusually long, broad tail, which like its back was stiffened with a network of bony tendons.

I love some dinosaurs! I always thought dinosaurs threw a wrench in the organized religion idea since these creatures have dominated this Earth much more longer than humans have. If not for some meteor (or whatever it ended up being), dinosaurs would still the top of the food chain.

It is crazy what nature can do.

Tyrannosaurus Rex and allosaurus are probably my favorite. The books I had as a child really hyped me up on these two beasts.

T Rex Period: Late Cretaceous 70 -65 million years ago :

4-foot-long jaw, the 6-inch-long teeth, the massive thigh bones.

Allosaurus (Allosaurus The official Utah State Fossil), Time Period: 157-150 million years ago, Late Jurassic :

The skull of our Allosaurus is 28 inches long.

Each tooth was up to 4 inches long and had serrations on the front and back of each tooth. It is estimated that for each tooth, they had about 6,500 lbs per square inch of force. The Allosaurus teeth are set at the sides of the skull, meaning that Allosaurus did not have cheeks, and therefore, did not chew its food. All that it could do was bite and swallow.

The hind foot is very bird-like, with three long toes with raptor-like claws. These claws were used to hold the prey down while it ripped flesh with a backwards pull of its head. The first toe, the dewclaw, is small and does not reach the ground. Why Allosaurus kept it is unknown, but must be like the appendix in people, where the vestigial structure remains because it usually does not do any harm.

Scientists are still trying to decide if it was a massive asteroid strike, ungodly volcanic activity, or... to really put the weenie to life at the time... a massive asteroid strike that then caused ungodly volcanic activity. Whatever it was, it wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs, the pterosaurs, and the mosasaurs in one fell swoop.

That is mind boggling to think about really... the dominant land life forms, aerial life forms, and marine life forms all gone.

This is the most plausible explanation. A six-mile-wide asteroid hitting the earth would cause massive damage but its effects would be relatively brief. The vulcanism resulting from the impact would last much longer, insuring that the earth's atmosphere would be in turmoil for decades.

We only have to look at the "Year Without a Summer" from relatively modern history (within the existence of the US) in 1816 to see what an impact it could have. That was, relatively speaking, a minor event compared to the vulcanism that lasted decades.

Some scientists say the Hekla 3 Eruption caused the Late Bronze Age collapse that effectively destroyed the early Bronze age civilizations in the Mediterranean.
