BA had him 36 coming in, through 2 rounds and 78 picks, undrafted.

Puzzling.

87. Blaine Knight
122. Eric Cole
144. Grant Koch
239. Jax Biggers
311. Carson Shaddy

Not really, teams are concerned with his frame and durability. Inability to add any weight has hurt him in projections.

He’s lacks an elite pitch stuff wise and not being able to go deep in games consistently hurts but his competitiveness will carry him how ever far he goes.

I hope we get to see him with all of his pitches working before his time in a Razorback jersey is up but every game this season, afterwards he either doesn’t have the cutter, slider, fastball or curve he’s started using.

Remember Stephan was 92nd pick last year.

How low would he have to drop to consider coming back

Poor coaching is having a team full of seniors and a future lottery pick and going 0-1 in the NCAA tournament.

You could have just said ‘Mike Anderson’ and we would have got the point

Says more about BA than anything, like maybe they didn't do enough research....BK reminds me a little of Baxendale. Not going to wow you with measurables like Stanek or Jackson, but seem to find a way to win games.

BK seems pretty mentally tough, which won't get you drafted high, but certainly can help get you up to the big leagues and make the most of your opportunity.

What does get you drafted high is what BK doesn't have, which is a major league ready (or near there) secondary pitch if your fastball isn't near 100.

Knight could easily pick up some velocity on his fastball once he gets into a professional strength and conditioning program, which is good, but he just doesn't have an out pitch. All of his secondary pitches are just "OK".

That obviously doesn't apply here or we would have a few less posters

IMO - Not enough Swing And Miss stuff to go that high for a right-hander.
Doesn't detract at all from what he accomplished this year though.

I guess we'll make this the draft thread. Eric Cole goes to the Royals in the 4th round. Could see him back in NWA in a few years! Grant Koch also to the Pirates in round 5.

Glad to see. He's made some huge improvement since he's been here.

How good is he? I feel like were gonna miss having a catcher who could stick

IDK but Koch is the best hitting catcher we've had since, maybe ever? Certainly this century. McCann was better overall catcher but not as good offensively.

So yeah I expect we're going to miss him for sure.

Idk about that. Koch is only hitting .250. McCann was just overshadowed because he was on the team with Wilkins, Cox, Eibner, etc. I'd still give it to McCann.

Opitz is better. Just needs experience.

Ya as long as he pans out Opitz was one of the highest ranked recruits we had and the top catcher on some sites.
