Frost, who is now the head coach at Nebraska, spoke with USA Today’s George Schroder about how his former school has gone about celebrating its unbeaten season.
And the most interesting quote comes from Frost’s concession that given the system, Alabama should be the national champion.
“I do think it was almost criminal how low they(the College Football Playoff committee) kept UCF in the rankings, and I think it was intentional,” Frost told Schroder. “But at the end of the day, the playoff system is that the national champion is the team that wins the playoff.”
Frost added that while it’s made sense for UCF to have a parade, championship rings and a banner, he also somewhat wishes that the special season wouldn’t have gotten turned into some kind of joke.
“I think it was smart by them, because it has kept UCF in the media and in the conversation,” Frost said But you know, like our rings, I kind of wish my ring just said ‘Undefeated Season’ and ‘Peach Bowl Champion.’ ”
The rings that the players and team got, as tweeted out by the school’s account, say national champions on them.

I truly don't understand why some Alabama folks seem so caught up in what UCF is doing with their 2017 season.

Frost is rightm it did tarnish the rings and accomplishment of that team
I do think UCF would have been a tough semifinal opponent for either of the 4 playoff teams and Boise St was playoff worthy in the past as well

I think he’s right there. I totally understand why UCF wanted to maximize the opportunity, but I think they got too silly with it.
