Former Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams III reportedly is suing an insurance company for a significant amount of money. On Tuesday, it was revealed that attorneys representing Williams filed a lawsuit that alleges insurance company Lloyd’s of London breached its contract with the former Razorbacks player, per WholeHogSports.com’s Tom Murphy. Williams, who played for Arkansas during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, is seeking a jury trial and payment of his $1 million policy with the company in addition to more than $3 million in punitive damages, court costs, attorney’s fees and statutory damages of 12 percent of the total loss. Williams, 21, is suing the parties involved for breach of contract. He claims that they haven’t paid on a $1 million disability insurance policy that was taken out in March 2017.

Don't know how you could sue Lloyds of London. It's not an actual company. It's a specialized insurance market where brokers help people get insurance for things that aren't covered on the regular markets. My guess is they would have to sue the actual company they bought the insurance from.

If Lloyd's acts as the reinsurer on an insurance policy, that would probably subject them to a state's long-arm statute, but I still don't see how you'd survive summary judgment.

On a side note it's beyond time that face mask penalties like the one pictured above be punished like targeting.

I'd venture to say grabbing and twisting a players facemask is much more dangerous than some of the bullshite targeting calls.

For example - vs. Ole Miss 2016

Deandre Coley is ejected for this forearm shiver to an ole miss pussy:

but the land shart doesn't get ejected for this:

Here is RWIII's injury:

The end is hard to watch - knowing that RWIII had no feeling and was essentially paralyzed at that moment.

The facemask is nowhere near as egregious as bitch rebel above but it still needs to be discouraged.

Nobody is taught to tackle by grabbing at a players helmet.

How is it there is almost always a Auburn player involved in a dirty play?

Guessing because you only watch Auburn and Alabama games.

There’s a world outside of Alabama. Go explore, kiddo

I can't remember exactly, but I recall that he retired in fear that one more injury could cause permanent disability. Lloyd's will likely argue he's not entitled to it because he voluntarily retired and is not technically disabled.

He took a hard hit in Spring practice that left him briefly paralyzed. He had the same sensation as the first injury only temporary the 2nd time.

After consulting with Doctors, UA Staff, and family it was decided that the risk of permanent injury was too great for him to continue playing football.

I agree with your point that the Lloyd's attorneys will argue that he retired before becoming disabled thus negating the policy. Should be a interesting trial and verdict.
