This is college football in the SEC. We have to be ready on the 2 deep at every position.

(2018: Tua dislocates a thumb during practice)
2017: Fields dislocated a finger
2017: Eason gets hurt for 4 games
2014: Mason gets hurt in the bowl game
2013: Aaron Murray tears an ACL

Injuries are a huge part of every game. Nothing pisses me off more than failure to plan (our defense is doing great against Boise until Ogletree hurts his foot and is replaced with Jeremy Sulek. We are vulnerable to slants, crosses, and the muscle hamster).

I don’t see how mop up duty gives him enough valuable experience to be a difference maker if JF11 goes down with a serious issue. If that happens we just start over with another freshman. The benefits of playing Fields don’t outweigh the potential cost of losing him for a whole year of eligibility IMO.

What I DONT want is to start splitting series as that seems to disrupt the starter more than anything else. Also, trotting out the “running QB” to take a snap and run it is the dumbest play in college football as everyone in the stadium knows what’s going to happen.

Not saying I dont get your position...or necessarily disagree....but I’d love to get two full years out of Fields as a starter if possible. And I don’t see him beating Fromm.
