Were you there when they crucified my Lord
Were you there when they nailed him to the cross
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb
Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble...
tremble...

What if some regular dorks started a phish cover band... and eventually did a cover version of a song by the official real actual band of dorks called "phish"?... that was actually a grateful dead cover song?...a song the gratful deid vagrant posers copied from some other band?....as per the gratrul deads cover band get-rich formula?..because they cant write any good ones of their own without outside contractors?
It'd be like taking an asymtotic line AND EXTENDING IT OUTWARDA!!!

The Grateful Dead Workingman's Dead album always gets back in the rotation when there's pollen on everything and I drink alcohol.
Easy Wind- Studio
New Speedway Boogie- Studio
I don't know but I been told, it's hard to run with the weight of gold. Another man I heard he said it's just as hard with the weight of lead.
I spent a little time on the mountain, I spent a little time on the hill.

Dawgslife, I thought collective soul was from woodstock?
Sorry it took so long, I dropped out of the thread for awhile. The father of Ed Roland was the pastor at First Baptist Church Stockbridge. (I believe) My boss went to school with them and was good friends with one of their brothers (That wasn't in the band)
Granted, this is the story he gave me, so it could be wrong, but the boss was a good guy, and I think I can trust him....if not let me know. I hate to repeat something only to find out I was lied to about the facts.
I'll look up more information and see what I find, though, just to be sure.

Just wikied it and it is Stockbridge, so apparently my boss was telling it to me straight.
Interesting side note about how the band started (If you aren't interested in this sort of thing, skip the rest)
Ed Rolan wanted to start a band and asked brother Dean, buddies Will Turpin, Ross Childress and Shane Edwards to join. Dean had not played the guitar and Ed asked him to learn, so Dean learned how to play rhythm guitar.
After they had some success Ed put them all on salary and invested the rest of their money, to avoid losing, wasting, drinking, drugging out on all of their money and them ending up broke.
Apparently one of the members began an affair with Ed Rolan's wife and was caught. That broke up Ed's marriage and got the member kicked out of the band. From what I understand, it is a feud that still goes on today.
That was a couple of the stories the boss told me that you typically won't find out on wiki or other places.

One of my friends played with one of them in a different band before collective soul, maybe that particular guy was from woodstock.

Possible. I was thinking they were friends from High School, but it is possible that one might have been brought in by somebody else. They've had a lot of turmoil in the group, not all of their own doing. Squabbles with record label. That kind of thing. Good group, though. I like their music a lot.
