I'm slowplaying Morris, but it finally feels like we have someone who gets recruiting

And it's value as a lifeblood of a program and he's actually a grownup.
No reggae-listening fatasses, no slick self absorbed televangelists, and no devils walking in plain clothes.... Just a guy who actually understands modern college football and the region which Arkansas plays (yes Nutt did too, but he was from a different era and he was ultimately his own worst enemy)
Read that we had 12 4-star prospects on campus this past weekend and 40 total... And another group coming soon.
Recruiting guys saying they've never seen anything like it... ever from a prospect visit standpoint. And never seen attention to detail and recruiting and marketing like the current staff.
Kids saying on Twitter it's "felt like home" and loved the family atmosphere... Things eerily similar to what Clemson recruits always say...
I'm still skeptical whether Morris can actually win here at a high clip, but stories like this make it much easier to stomach some of the expected losses next year.

Have literally heard this in some way shape or form with every single coach we've hire in any sport since I've been alive.
With Petrino it was "families love the no nonsense, get to the NFL approach!"
With Pelphrey it was "this guy gets it, he's from UK!"
With Bert it was also the "family type atmosphere but will also get you to the NFL"
Even with Heath it was something along the soft spoken, approachable pedigree.
Just land the guys and start winning games.
Tired of getting excited over false hopes. One way or another we're going to get "Arkansas'd" in this. He probably has a ton of success and rolls to A&M 4 years into the job.

Not going to judge his recruiting until he actually has a full class signed of his own.

This is funny timing because I just listened to him speak at the Razorback Club banquet. Before the speakers started someone at the table said, I keep coming to these and you walk away excited and then in 5 years it’s someone new and I said yes it always seems to end badly.
So, I had my guard up. Then he spoke and dammit I’ll probably be back to psycho hog fan before too long.
He’s very freaking likable and doesn’t seem to be full of shite and not overly rehearsed sounding.

He’s getting elite talent to visit at a rate we haven’t seen since who knows when, that is a fact. Sure he still has to close but 4 months in it’s a good sign.

Said the same about Petrino.
And Bert I believe.
Just sayin' guys. I'll give a shot, we have no choice but the last 10 years has big one swift kick in the nuts over and over again.

yea he recruited better than any previous coach we've had, but still wasn't ever able to bring as many 4 stars to campus as Morris.

That’s because Petrino probably did bring in more talent than Nutt....an Bielema than Petrino etc. Morris is bringing in more than any of them at this point, that is a fact I’m not talking in generalities

Morris gives off a good vibe. He knows what he's doing. As soon as he made a kid run for having a dirty towel hanging in his locker I was on board.

Neither of those guys ever had twelve 4* prospects on campus at the same time. It remains to be seen if he can win but he’s clearly on a different levels recruiting wise than those folks.

Yeah what he's doing is really Uncommon.

How many were on campus in January 2012? The DGB visit? That's the only weekend visit I can remember that had comparable talent, but that's probably because the DGB hype made it seem moreso.

Meh. He'll sign a top 30 class like usual, nothing special.

None other than DGB that weekend, from what I can tell. The week before we had 5 though which might have been the best weekend under Petrino.

Why are you so miserable and negative all of the time? Am I doing this right?

Petrino and Bielema each got guys to visit but because of weaknesses or philosophical differences could never get the quality AND quantity of numbers we’ve seen this early for unofficial visits.
Petrino was hurt by his personality with inability to give that memorable moment or connect with a prospect, lack of real care in recruiting with the mindset he could out-scheme whoever he had. Bielema rankings wise was our best but we’ve seen how that has gone on the field so far and it’s still a bit early before all the data returns with all his players still in the roster. He also had tendency to load up at certain positions if he could get talent and leave holes at others.
Sure they would get kids to come up for a spring practice, summer camp to earn an offer, unofficial visits to games as underclassmen but they never valued mass JR day style weekends to show off the campus, town and facilities.
Recruiting is getting faster. It’s headed towards the baseball and softball models which are currently getting commitments from middle school to freshmen prospects.
The new official visit rules allow prospects to take any of their five official visits starting April to June. It’s no longer only September to February when the dead periods aren’t current.
The current staff as we’ve seen has the philosophy of offer early and often. Get as many potential recruits on campus as early and soon as possible.
