In the spirit of fairness and sportsmanship, who wants to get a GoFundMe started to build a sports complex to host all SEC championships?

According to this calculator the geographical center of the SEC is the booming metropolis of Nauvoo, AL.

Let's learn a bit more about Nauvoo...

quote:

Nauvoo was founded as Ingle Mills in 1888, during the construction of the Northern Alabama Railway, and was formerly a center of coal mining. For unknown reasons, resident Tom Carroll renamed it for Nauvoo, Illinois, a city founded by Mormon prophet Joseph Smith in 1839.[3] According to 1910 U.S. Census records, it incorporated in 1906.

quote:

As of the census[7] of 2000, there were 284 people, 116 households, and 83 families residing in the town. The population density was 289.3 people per square mile (111.9/km²). There were 150 housing units at an average density of 152.8 per square mile (59.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.24% White, 1.06% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 1.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

quote:

In the town, the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 89.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.4 males.

quote:

Notable Person
- Ben Sankey, shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1929 to 1931

Honorable mention: the calculator also calculates a "personal center" based on the amount of years in a location. If we consider the longevity of each team in the conference, the runner-up is Warrior, AL.

Nauvoo, Alabama is one of those small towns that no one outside people in that particular county has any idea where it is located.

Except James Spann

It is 850 miles (12 hours) from El Paso, Tx to Orange, Tx.

From Orange to Jacksonville, FL, it is 760 miles (11 hours).

So the Geographic center is somewhere in NE Texas.

I honestly was going to make a Nauvoo Mormon joke but I had no idea it was named that because of the Mormons.
