Eyeroll all you want but stats show that if a coach can't get a team to at least 8 or 9 wins (usually by yr 2) he's not good and never will be.

I talked to an analytics guy recently and he said the truly special guys can get a total shite team to 6-7 wins in yr 1 no matter what and get 10-12+ wins in year 2, almost no matter what the school.

He said a really good coach will get it going to 10+ by yr 3.

He said basically every model shows that's if a coach can't get those numbers by yr 3 nowadays it ain't gonna happen and coach is not very good.

I believe him, fans just need to take off the blinders. Look what Frost did at UCF, look what Saban, Meyer, Kirby did at their power Schools, look what Briles did at Baylor, Kiffin at FAU, etc etc etc...

That might be true but the last analytics guy that people on this board loved to talk about said Bert was going to be great.

I just don't think it's realistic to expect us to always hire the best coach in the country.

I expect us to compete and play good football and basketball but reality of championships 10 win seasons etc is while being good is a must. being lucky id also required most of the time.
