I just don't get it. Why is he starting

He is the enigma of Mizzou basketball.

I don’t get the CVL complaints. Mizzou has 4 perimeter players. Mizzou needs CVL to be able to play about 20 solid minutes. Which he’s done the last few games.
Also if MPJ is healthy, or 2 of Phillips, Harris and Phillips are still playing the CVL isn’t needed.

He plays too much. Geist should start at point with Robertson at the 2. CVL should only spell Geist, not start over him.
CVLs stat line is typically awful. He's not a good defender, ball handler, or rebounder. He should be the last guy off the bench.

CVL played when we had all of those players.

Personally, I’d prefer him in the game when we’re getting pressed.
Geist is just clueless against the press, he picks up the dribble at half court every goddamn time.
CVL is a meh guy, but maybe he’s able to get the ball up on the press.
I just hate watching Geist when teams press.

We saw 2 minutes of MPJ, but CVL wasn’t playing much late in the noncon part of the season. CVL plays because he’s the best option for the 20 minutes a game that Mizzou needs a 4th perimeter player.
He’s not going to win Mizzou any games, but won’t lose any games either.

Our roster is such that it’s impossible to complain about him getting playing time. But by the end of his career, he will have the most minutes of any Mizzou player who has contributed as little as he has.

I just don't see him contributing at all next year.

Neither CVL nor Geist has shown that one should get significant time over the other. Why do you like Geist so much? He had a pass today that was literally thrown straight to a Kentucky player and he has become a bad free throw shooter.

That’s what we said last year and the year before. And when he was recruited.

Geist plays better defense and is a better ball handler. He's also very physical.
Only issue I have with Geist is he picks up his dribble randomly for no apparent reason.

Geist, Puryear and CVL are good players for Cuonzo to develop program culture. Neither are great athletes, but they are bought in, play hard and are physical.
Hopefully Cuonzo can bring in some perimeter players that will make Mizzou less reliant on them.

Puryear is making plays right now. His offensive rebounding the past to games is a big reason we've won both.

Knox had his lowest point production since conference play started. It was a direct result of Vanleer's effort on the defensive end of the floor. His minutes weren't completely wasted.

This. Plus when Mizzou went on the run that stopped UKs momentum at the beginning of the second half, he was the guy who got the steal. He has actually turned into a serviceable defender at times, which I didn't think was possible. Depending on the lineup he is with, he doesn't need to score anyway and he has done a good job not forcing things, which Geist struggles with.
Guy doesn't try to do too much, which I appreciate (and you can't say that for everyone---looking at those 3-pt stats for Puryear)

Because he's too slow. He can't defend. And quite honestly, he doesn't shoot that well. He shoots barely ok, but not great. Unless ESPN is wrong, he is shooting 0.00% from the line.

I would agree with NEEDS. But it ain't happening.

I take it you didn’t watch the Kentucky game. CVL was a big part of Knox struggling today.

When Cameron Van Leer walks on next year we get 4 to 5 more years of CVL.
Next year will CVL x 2
Next year will CVL x 2
