I was very vocal in my displeasure with the coaching staff as I laid the blame for the team's overall horrible performance from the line at their feet. That said I want to give credit where it's due. Arkansas shot 78% from the line as a team tonight and we don't get the road win we got tonight without it. We also shot 80% as a team with 35 attempts against Ole Miss. Credit where it's due. It's no coincidence that the team has started winning these games with otherwise sporadic offensive performances.

Having CJ Jones find his stroke again is going to be huge.

Several of these guys were really off their game for awhile. I think they were/still are maybe having some chemistry issues, but it looks like it's working itself out.

The slump was all about mental errors. Which tells ya they're lacking in the leadership department a little. Gotta learn to overcome some of that shite, but it appeared to be consuming the entire team.

I will say it’s often hard to figure this team out. I characterize them as a streaky offensive team that’s mediocre on defense. That’s strange since Mike’s calling card has been pressure defense.

I do like the improvement in FTs, and I think they’ve figured out that they can’t just be the Barford and Macon show. Darious Hall is getting better and CJ Jones needs improvement, but he’s not a liability on every level every time he steps on the floor.

Defensively, I see that they have improved a bit, but still are occasionally slow when it comes to rotating against shooters, so they give up some open shots and easy penetration with that.

There are two adjustments that I like from the coaching staff. They’ve implemented a moderately effective half court defense when the press is getting broken easily, and they make sure they move a lot more on offense so guys can get open more when the game slows down.

I will admit that I do like Mike defending his guys when talking to the media. His primary loyalty should be to his players, not the media.

I think the biggest things that can help are rotating better on defense and if CJ Jones finally gets hot like he was early in the season, the offense will really open up.

We aren't quite there yet but I've seen enough improvement to think we'll be a top 25 team by March.

Not just free throws. Thompson has stepped up a ton defensively. CJ is learning how to play against good teams that are keying on him behind the arch. Mike is starting to figure out which combinations of players work best.

Macon and Barford are still NBA auditioning too much, but I can't really complain since they're carrying the team.

Our help defense/switching is atrocious.

We have our guards in the lane playing defense on the post players

Also want to point out - having rough stretches early in conference play and finishing strong isn't atypical for CMA. I think it's partly by design. Not that he's telling them to lose games in January, but there's something to be said for figuring the team out now, and peaking at the right time.

Getting a few things each game out of Thomas and Hall have been huge. Credit where its due.

Now if we could only expand that to Cook and Bailey as well, we'd be pretty dangerous.

Hopefully last night was a man's lesson for Gafford.

One thing I've noticed in the past few games is our movement without the ball. During our rough stretch nobody was cutting or setting screens. The last few games I've seen a much better effort spreading the floor and moving the ball.

I'm hoping this game will be the turning point for the team. They can be so talented if they just trust one another.

Mike has always done this, and it always bites him in the arse.

Nice to see Hall and Jones stepping up.

We're still not a round of 16 team
