Not saying I’m sold, but if you really are interested in a line of thinking:
SEC wants playoff spots and especially championships. $
Bama has been the best team and has the best chance to get voted in and best chance to win. Get the benefit of the doubt rather than cost the league
Some have felt other great teams throughout the years may have gotten the same treatment against non contenders too
10mil is nothing crazy buts it something, not to mention the indirect benefits to the conference. If it’s an important moment in a close game against a 2+ loss conference foe (most years a UGA isn’t on the other side) i don’t think it’s completely crazy to imagine the conference not eliminating itself from the big stage.
I imagine you’d find a lot of 9-10 figure entities aren’t above quietly ensuring their cash flow through unethical means
In the reality the whole SEC office in Birmingham, Mark Emmett being the head of the NCAA, and Bama being by far the best program in the country is just naturally going to get people going. Could be nothing, could be something, but people always look for reasons why someone is doing it better. A lot of you will too when someone else is on top

If the SEC wanted the most money this year it should have kept one team out and let them play in the Orange Bowl. It paid out 27.5 million dollars and an SEC would have been eligible.

I can honestly say I have never felt this way. Even during the lean years, nobody was trying to keep Bama down. The bad coaching hires, meddling boosters and probation is what held Bama back.
