I hope we can get him. Love his film. Never doubt a kid from Louisiana for sure.

Eddie Smith’s first trip to see Tennessee’s campus may have been enough to get the defender on board with the Volunteers.
“I loved it,” Smith said. “Like with the players and everything, it felt like home. I love the new coaching staff. I love it.”
The 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback out of Salmen (La.) High School didn’t hide his interest in the Big Orange.
“Oh that’s my No. 1 school without a doubt,” said Smith, who mentioned Alabama, Mississippi State and Missouri in his Top 4.

Would be a really nice pickup if y'all get him. He's got an upcoming visit to Bama still, perhaps some other schools too.

Bama will absolutely be our biggest competition and VOLS shouldn't feel good about this until after that visit

Saban wants to sign 1-2 more DBs. He's working on Copeland, Surtain and Taylor-Suart and it's safe to assume they're all higher on the board. Surtain appears likely to LSU and there's tough competition for the other two. Smith's visit was rescheduled to follow those other three. Who UA can get at other positions probably also impacts whether they'll sign 1 vs 2 more DBs. It'll be interesting to see who ends up where.

Right division, wrong team.

I don't think he ends up at Bama unless they miss on a few guys.

It's a MSU/UT battle right now.

MSU got like 10 crystal balls for Carvin and Banks mere days before they signed with Tennessee.

This guy is a Bama lock.

Not sure if there is a bigger dumpster fire in the recruiting world than Mississippi State right now. JoMoe isn't cut out for the SEC.

Count = 7 new CBs to Bama so far today.

ETA: Count = 9 now.

UA=80% | UT=20% | MSU=ZERO%

Smith ain't going to Tennessee. I think Bama gets him very late in the process.

JoMo locked up the immediate needs during the early signing period. Offensive line and defensive back are a more of a long term concern that if not addressed this week will need to be of primary focus in 2019. That was a weakness of the prior staff so expecting him to turn that around immediately isn't realistic. 2019 will determine if he's got what he needs to recruit in the SEC. I think we will find out in September he's more than cut out for the SEC when it comes to on field coaching.

Enjoy him. You're only getting him bc surtain Jr is a tiger. We didn't want Eddie smith. He's a good player though, as a backup plan.
